I recommend the units.

I have seen this unit work very well in built up areas, but usually the power assist as it were is given by a signal booster separate to the two way radios

So, if you do want to worry a little less about the thing getting ruined in the rain and feel more confident about that distance you can use it over, it is a very competent unit.

When we press the Mode, Menu, "+", "-", and Mon buttons the unit does a low pitch beep and the function does not work.

Regardless, this unit lacks AM radio and for me, that is a necessity in an emergency radio

Motorola will send a brand new replacement for both units and the charger within 10 days of returning the defective units and the charger.

One unit arrived inoperable so I had to return it for credit...which I did get

It's apparent that these are well built units unlike cheaper radios which look like toys

Excellent units with rechargeable batteries (included) and the privacy codes necessary to modify the basic channels if desired

The units feel substantial, durable

This unit has its own power boost, and seems to work well in the low end of the transmission range, but unless you take it out in the mountains you will not how far it really goes

That said, it is a very good unit.
