I was a little concerned when I checked the reviews and saw complaints of a burnt plastic smell, especially since I have a very sensitive nose, but I figured it was worth a shot

Coffee did have strange plastic smell and slight flavor with the first few uses

By the way I never noticed the strong chemical smell that many have reported.

Some mentioned a strange taste or smell, but that has not been our experience.

plastic had such a bad smell and that smell was also in the taste of the coffee that i had to throw out the whole machine

Brews on strong in 15 minutes and the strength really is different, timer works, no funny smells or sounds, no leaking

This new one does not have the thermal feature as advertised but the real issue is a horrible plastic smell that won’t go away after multiple cycles

I've been actively looking (er, sniffing) for anything strange in all the subsequent pots of coffee I've brewed and there's no burnt plastic smell or taste

You should now be able to make a pot of great tasting coffee with no odd smells.

I usually like this coffeemaker, but this one smelled of plastic for months and when I tried to return it under the extended warranty, there was no way to do it.
