For me, I don't mind a slightly less hot coffee for the convenience and cost savings.-I don't really know that this is a con, but you do have to hold the "clean" button on the milk container after every use to force steam through to keep it from clogging up

The Lattisima Plus is very easy to use, 4 buttons, press one.

But after a pleasant call to Nespresso customer service - and learning some maintenance tips (you do need to clean parts of the frother weekly - and use the 'clean button' with water in milk container after you are through making all the cappuccinos you want for the morning) we were taken care of

They suggest cleaning the 4 parts of the milk frother twice a week in a dishwasher, and you also have to push the CLEAN button for 10 or so seconds after each use

It is very easy to clean after you make your coffee, you just push a button and the milk frother cleans itself in about one minute (the instructions say 10 seconds but it is definitely longer than that), twice a week you need to place the milk frother in the dishwasher

Just fill it up with 2% milk, plug it in, press one button to make your coffee, when finished just hit the clean button on the frother and it runs steam through the stem, and simply put it back in the frig for later

The one button clean up is a breeze and it all works perfectly

To get your drinks at their warmest temperatures you will ALWAYS want to both pull a blank water shot (just press the espresso button without a pod in the machine but make sure you pretend to eject the pod after because a little more water will come out and you don't want that in the glass you are ready to use that might have syrup in it) AND clean the milk frother, if using milk, by holding down the black clean button for about ten seconds into either the glass you will be using (make sure you dump out the water before creating your drink!) or a different glass.

Empty the pod holder into the built-in pod collection bin, put a mug or something under the milk spout, hold the steam clean button on top for 10 seconds or so while it cleans out leftover milk residue, then pop the milk container with any remaining unused milk in the fridge until next time

: Fortissio Lungo ran through as a tall cup with milk (top right button), 1/2 to 1 Tsp sugar, pop the capsule into the reservoir after using it and hit the espresso button one more time to just add more water

Run a shot of hot water through it, depress the button on the milk container for about 10 seconds and you are done!

As for cleaning the machine otherwise, it's a snap because the milk thing has a Clean button that blows steam through it for 10 seconds.

This one is SO easy to use, and all you do is push the clean button before storing the frother in the fridge!!!

If I am only making the one cup Ill hit the milk clean button, adding the remaining milk/water to my cup for a super quick clean up

It makes espresso quickly, the buttons are intuitive to use, and the option of having the milk added to your espresso is a nice touch.

What is not to love about this machine?!-Detachable milk container you can store in the fridge.-Automatic frother you may adjust to your liking.-Easy clean button that takes less than 10 seconds to complete.-Esthetically pleasing, all while not taking up all your counter space.

So, if you didn't like the result remember to set the machine back to the default setting by pressing all four buttons (lungo, espresso, latte, and cappuccino) down simultaneously for a few seconds until they stop blinking.- Make sure to clean the milk frother by holding the clean button for about ten seconds, you'll see why after you do it

I did talk to an specialist at Sur La Table and gave me a great tip: before you start the coffee pour some hot water on the cup (before you insert the coffee pod) and then press the clean button on the milk steamer

The cleaning button on the machine really doesn't do much more than make noise

This is accomplished by placing a mug under the wand and holding the button down next to the foam dial until it stops spewing steam and a bit of water (~20 seconds).Overall I highly recommend picking up one of these as it makes excellent beverages (I’ve learned to enjoy lattes thanks to this).

Oh, at the end of the day, I put an empty cup under both spouts, press the clean button on the milk frother for 10 secs and it cleans it out nicely, and (make sure no pods in chamber) run an espresso (lower left of 4 buttons) worth of water through to rinse the chamber and head

If I'm not doing this and using the clean button on the unit it stops working after 2-3 weeks

There is a clean button that pumps steamed water through the milk spout to clean it and it easily comes apart for you to do a more thorough job if needed

If you want it to be hotter do one run with just water (no coffee pod) to heat up the system and your cup AND/OR inject 10 seconds of steam into your cup using the "clean" button (will warn up your cup and the milk steaming mechanism).Enjoy!

This machine also stopped frothing in less than two years despite the fact that I cleaned the machine regularly and used the clean button on the frother after every drink

A final issue would be having to hold down the cleaning button each time I want to clean the milk unit

The milk compartment has a self cleaning button which is why I bought this one and not the other combination Nespresso machines

To clean out the internal pipes of the frother, you hold down a button on the milk reservoir lid while it makes wheezing, spluttering, and cat being strangled type noises

We first tried Nespresso at a high end B&B and fell in love!

The U is cute but requires a separate frother (aerocinno) which has a non stick coating that scratches so easily + it takes another power outlet + space on the counter
