Nespresso Lattissima Plus Original Espresso Machine with Milk Frother by De'Longhi, Black

    • After all these years, I've settled on Restretto, (the Black), the boldest and most universal of the coffees for straight Americano (just brew a Longo and either run one more cycle without a pod for hot water or drink it straight).
    • The espresso comes out very slowly compared to a new machine and the milk froother attachment makes a lot of hot water before milk comes out
    • Probably hard water where I live is the problem
    • Have not had an issue with the capacity of the water container - we just lift the lid & using a clean cup pour in clean water to keep it topped up - no need to remove.
    • I find it very encouraging, and may even purchase a few generics to try out in the near future.= Water Leakage =there has been reports about water leaking at the base of the machine
    • This machine does not boil your water in a holding tank like other makers
    • We're hooked!Like the Keurig system, the Nespresso system utilizes individually sealed pods of espresso, through which the machine forces hot water.
    • And, regarding the water levels, its fine for
    • You need to heat up your cup under hot tap water before brewing.
    • Although I still heat all my cups quickly by rinsing them in hot water before I put any beverage in them.
    • It was easier to warm them up with hot water
    • Our water is pretty soft so, thus far, I've only needed to descale the machine twice in the year I've owned it, and that's a very simple procedure.
    • I learned from the Krups about sufficient water!~~I like this machine a lot.
    • I have preheated the mug by running a lungo with no pod so it dispenses hot water to the mug.
    • I also do not plan on running an entire container of water through the machine every morning to get even slightly hot coffee, which wastes my time and my pure water
    • not enough milk storage not enough water storage spits liquid when cleaning frother water storage hidded
    • So i rinse my glass or cup in hot water first.
    • (just running it under hot water should do the trick). It was fast and the drinks have all been delicious.
    • This serves two purposes; cleans out the unit, and the hot water warms your cup.
    • I often dispense the hot water directly into the cup that I am about to use
    • I do a cycle of hot water before making the espresso so it is nice and hot
    • Run a shot of hot water through it, depress the button on the milk container for about 10 seconds and you are done!
    • I also do not plan on running an entire container of water through the machine every morning to get even slightly hot coffee, which wastes my time and my pure water
    • and there's actually a way described in the manual to program the machine to account for hard water, which I've done
    • Even prepping the cup with a shot of hot water like many reviewers suggest - my coffee is ready in under 2 minutes
    • not enough milk storage not enough water storage spits liquid when cleaning frother water storage hidded
    • After walking to the table to sit down to enjoy my "hot" beverage I am able to chug the whole thing like it was luke warm tap water
    • To get your drinks at their warmest temperatures you will ALWAYS want to both pull a blank water shot (just press the espresso button without a pod in the machine but make sure you pretend to eject the pod after because a little more water will come out and you don't want that in the glass you are ready to use that might have syrup in it) AND clean the milk frother, if using milk, by holding down the black clean button for about ten seconds into either the glass you will be using (make sure you dump out the water before creating your drink!) or a different glass.
    • My parents have gone through 2 or 3 machines (under warranty fortunately) due to hard water blocking up the insides of the machine
    • If I heat the cup with hot water first, it is better, but I still have to nuke it for about 10 seconds
    • I also make hot water with this for tea, oatmeal, soup, etc. by running water through the lungo button without a capsule in place
    • I agree with other reviews in that the temperature isn't quite as hot as I would like, even with running the hot water clean cycle first
    • This process may need to be done a couple times, but it allowed the air bubble to be cleared and water was then pulled into the unit (you could hear the difference once this took place)
    • Yes, you can just make hot water
    • I recommend putting all the little parts in the container with hot water and soap and shaking vigorously, allowing it to drain though the holes.-The warm-up time puts the Keurig to shame
    • I don't clean the milk frother as much as it says to, I just rinse it in hot water when it has milk drying near the top (I'm just going to not fill it as full and that should make it better). This makes TONS of froth no matter the setting.
    • If yours isn't, get some citric acid on ebay and mix 1T or 2T in the reservoir of warm water(mix thoroughly!), draw in about 3 lungo's worth of water (no pod of course) and let it sit overnight
    • Want just hot water
    • Be sure to run hot water (make a long shot without a capsule in the machine) through PRIOR to making your first shot or latte of the morning - or even twice if you just put cold water in the tank
    • Most of the time it started by spitting hot water, and then about half way through the process it would simply stop
    • Personally, before making a decent cappuccino, I run the system with hot water once, and also activate the steam system prior to pulling a capsule through the system
    • Dump the water from your cup, then place the cartridge and make your
    • Just like the bad reviews, water wouldn't circulate through my brand new machine out of the box.1
    • Most parts are plastic and can be rinsed in hot water to clean
    • ** adjustable water
    • I did talk to an specialist at Sur La Table and gave me a great tip: before you start the coffee pour some hot water on the cup (before you insert the coffee pod) and then press the clean button on the milk steamer
    • Colder water = colder drink.
    • Worked the first month and then the water started leaking all over my counter top
    • I also run hot water thru it until it "exits" the hole before putting it in the dishwasher (top rack).
    • Be sure to run hot water (make a long shot without a capsule in the machine) through PRIOR to making your first shot or latte of the morning - or even twice if you just put cold water in the tank
    • PROS:-The coffee is damn good for an automatic machine-One button makes a latte/cappuccino, not two separate steps-It actually froths the milk really well and you can control the level of froth-You can change up the type of coffee easily-The maintenance is ridiculously easy-The machine is very smallCONS:-Okay, so the espresso and milk aren't quite as hot as if you had made it with a manual machine
    • we will never get bored as there is always a new flavor to try
    • Just to be clear, the machine did still produced a decent cappuccino - just not as great as it once was!Whilst other reviewers have commented on the temperature of the hot drinks, I must say that I never experienced a problem in this respect
    • Nice as
    • The coffee comes out not as hot as I would like and the Latte option makes small cups, even if you choose the big cup it only fills half of a mug.
    • The milk container being put in the fridge is great in theory but the milk spoils easily as it is already heated once.
    • i have to admit the keurig doesn't taste as good as it did a year ago and we changed filters, cleaned it etc.
    • All seemed to be working as in the store.
    • To the people complaining about not hot, holy c r a
    • I chose the Lattissima because I wanted actual steamed milk, and not just frothed milk, as well as because of its small size
    • t is a fraud
