I havent even moved it to a dead spot area yet

And please carefully note that I say 'seems'.Before the installation of the unit, Netgear's own signal strength app indicated about 57% signal strength in the critical area, after buying the EX7000 the signal strength went up to about 85% to 90%.

To my delight, when I went to connect my smartphone to the network, standing in a "bad" area, I noticed that BOTH the 5 and 2.4 connections were available, and I was able to connect with equal stability to either choice.
-
When I finally picked my optimum spot, now after three weeks, I have had consistently high transmission speeds of 65-85 Mb/s(good for Comcast home subscribers with reference hard wired computer to the router of 95 Mb/s) in the WORST areas of the house, and have not had to touch the extender one iota in any way.

The only slightly negative thing that I seem to have experienced, which does not rate deducting even half a star, is that when I connect my TV, located in a "bad area" via WiFi to the network, for movie streaming purposes, if I use the 5 GHz hookup, which it sees, I intermittently lose the HD signal because there is apparently enough fluctuation in the signal strength that there is not enough bandwidth for the HD stream at that frequency.

It really helped expand the WiFi in the dead areas of my home

Easy to set up; fast, covers a broad area.

Definitely had some slow or dead areas, especially upstairs

Sweet easy and the best device out in the market for managing your internet speeds in dead areas

This extender works amazing, it's exactly what I needed to reach my dead area and my internet works a little faster as well.
-
However, in the more distant troublesome areas, the situation is "desperate".Many of the repeaters, past and present have had the well-deserved reputation for being either hard to set up, or repeatedly losing the link with the router, usually requiring a reboot/hookup at annoyingly frequent intervals..
-
Also, it's a fairly cluttered area for network activity; I see 17 WiFi networks at this moment
-
In a "better area" downstairs, I receive 15 Mb/s, so there is considerable loss due to the interposed walls and the distance; however, at this spot, the speed is adequate for most general computer applications, including streaming an HD concert from YouTube onto a laptop screen.

If you live in a big home and your wireless router has trouble reaching certain areas, or if you have dead spots, the Netgear Nighthawk EX7000 is the best Wi-Fi booster available

I had two particle dead areas in my

Works as it should with very easy install

Speeds were nearly as good as in the house.

Would 100% recommend A++++
-
So, my advice is, if it's not working as you expected, try moving it to a few different locations

It worked exactly as we thought it would
