NETGEAR Nighthawk X8 AC5000 Tri-band WiFi Router, Gigabih Ethernet, MU-MIMO, Compatible with Amazon Echo/Alexa (R8300)

    • I gave it 4 stars for now because it is too soon to tout this device as amazing and I did not like the router interface
    • always had issues connecting my devices wirelessly and when I am able to, it has been extremely slow
    • Additionally, with “Smart Connect” devices I’ve used in the past, there is a single SSID
    • VLAN capability is great too since I can assign ports to guest access, as well as assigning devices to specific VLAN for Access Control purpose
    • The 2.4g Wifi became flaky first -- devices would frequently lose connection, and I'd have to reset the 2.4 network to get them to reconnect
    • This is a tri-band router which should give you the ability to support more Wifi devices simultaneously.
    • I high recommend this router, you will not disappoint this device.
    • Very easy to set up even if you are an IT novice and it seems to be handling our 30+ connected devices really well
    • No problem now handling all my devices on my network
    • Several times, I have been able to turn off the router and get our faster devices to connect wirelessly, but only for a short time
    • this device is rated to be quite a solid device
    • The device started crashing (non-responsive and all LEDs lit statically) at least once a week
    • The 5GhZ worked wonderfully, however, many devices in our household are not 5GhZ (AC) standard, and we need the 2.4GhZ (N) network for many of them to connect, chances are, your household is the exact same
    • Very nice device easy to connect to other brand extender or bridge
    • Power LED is orange (they call it "amber" color) and no devices can connect, both wireless and wired connections have completely failed
    • The unique shape prevents stacking things on top of it and becoming a harbor for heat sensitive devices allowing for a good natural air flow.
    • Great signal everywhere and all the devices in my house are online!
    • Thing is a beast I can run my PlayStation 4 and 2 devices with out any lag on my ps4 multiple player games
    • It also has some really great options included, but it could be further optimized if you could change parental settings on a device level instead of worrying about a bypass account with the extra application.
    • It seems like a very capable device, but our standalone router is working fine
    • The wife already hated the device for being so expensive, now she had another reason to complain
    • All the devices work great
    • Another firmware update goes by and my high hopes for finally a stable device went down the drain when the device started crashing every 2 days now
    • Here, I can edit how important different devices are, and even kick off people from my network that I don’t recognize.7) VPN!!
    • Band Router with Tri Band Router and tested almost 6 device simultaneously(big thanks to my friends) and got equal
    • Another firmware update goes by and my high hopes for finally a stable device went down the drain when the device started crashing every 2 days now
    • No problems with it, great range, stable, fast connection with all devices, compatible with Ipad, Iphones, Apple TV, Sony Blu Ray, Oppo Blu Ray, Xbox One, Panasonic TV, Sky, Dell XPS, HP, all this brands and product I connected with no issues
    • every time I have ever gotten a netgear router, it is always the same; poor OS, poor device support, poor quality product- Every
    • All of my cameras, and smart devices, including 4k 75 inch television have 0 delay/lag/buffer time
    • Although there are no devices available this year, the technology is part of the "Wave 2" for AC wireless standard.
    • Thinking to yourself, "wow this is an expensive network device for a regular consumer?"
    • Some smart home devices can’t use the faster 5 GHz band, so you can simply point them to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band
    • Coverage is good, most devices automatically hop to the best wireless signal.
    • Affordable and fast device
    • Even if you have warranty left on your device, it will come useless if you want some customer service for a defective device
    • It's a shame because this is a feature I absolutely need and the router is otherwise a decent device.
    • The NetGenie software is very clunky and slow as well, so I didnt enjoy setting this device up.
    • Just like other technology out there, the Nighthawk X8 wireless router has now evolved into a high performance and smart device that will compliment all your wireless needs
    • " IE11 issue). Some devices connected normally, Apple devices seemed to have a really hard time connecting and staying connected
    • Wired devices all work, so the wifi portion of the router is the issue.
    • All SSID's can be seen but no wireless device can connect citing "Authentication" issues which prevents any device from connecting
    • Each day, multiple times per day, devices would lose their wireless connection to the network
    • The advanced features such as QOS cannot be enabled if enabled then the devices do not show up (Note they work) but you cannot edit and prioritize them if they fail to show up.
    • This device has been awesome...bit slow at getting this device setup and make sure to do firmware updates BEFORE doing anything else as far as customizing or anything
    • With kids home for summer, mother-in-law staying for extended time, everyone having multiple devices, and all the "Smart Home" devices we had well over 20 devices competing for our old routers WiFi signal so things were slow, slow, slow
    • Device failed after two weeks.
    • Unable to get a phone all into an actual Best Buy Store I called Pacific Sales in Best buy and asked them to ask Geek Squad to take my call however the Geek refused to help me over the phone when I explained the antenna's would not rotate up, telling me that is what they get paid for, to support a device
    • All my devices were configured fine and had very good reach inside my house
    • one 2.4 and one 5, though our faster devices SOMETIMES see 3 or intermittently see one of three different networks, 1 or 2 at a time
    • However, I'd rather have a fully functional slower device than something that does not work at all and has 0 reliable support.- Former Netgear customer
    • Over 15 devices in the house, never had any problems.
    • This past year my now ex-Netgear router worked fine, but many devices were just plain slow and seemed to be getting slower
    • amazing device, easy to set up!!!!!
    • Additionally, I quit having issues with multiple devices bogging down the wireless network; I'd bet dollars to donuts Smart Connect is playing a role since my issues went away after I enabled it (Dual 5 Ghz bands to help isolate slower devices)
    • I used a fourth device, Apple laptop, and it works fine with Genie.
    • It supports 3 different bands, you can assign different device with separate band without affection each other
    • Unfortunately, so too are smart home devices which normally only work on 2.4ghz
    • So only devices capable of the 5GHz would work.
    • Netgear support does not care about people that have useless devices, I'm now writing this review having reverted back to my highly reliable ASUS AC1900.
    • I gave it 4 stars for now because it is too soon to tout this device as amazing and I did not like the router interface
    • I hack windows and linux devices for a living, and iot devices for the lulz
    • Fantastic device
    • All devices work very well and the two cameras we have are much more stable now.
    • The Nighthawk allowed me to split my wireless network into three separate virtual networks (per band) allowing preferred devices on the faster bands and lower priority devices such as mobile phones on the lower band
    • A device should not be defective less than one year old and if it is, it should not be this frustrating to look over your defective product.
    • This device worked for about 1 month and has now failed completely
    • If this is your main concern I would recommend this device
    • Looks like Netgear rushed another product to market before it was fully baked, and then all the "friends and family" people who get a free device can come to Amazon and give a 5-star review.
    • The device looks elegant, but the software\Genie experience is dreadful.
    • the device is defective, the tech support (very politely, I must say) stated: "Well, Netgear is already offering a new device free of charge, sir
    • the device is defective, the tech support (very politely, I must say) stated: "Well, Netgear is already offering a new device free of charge, sir
    • I would highly recommend this device to anyone
    • This device worked for about 1 month and has now failed completely
    • Currently making my home a smart home and this router handles the multiple devices great.
    • Worst tech device I bought in a very very long time.
    • Having a signal that your device can hear through floors and walls doesn’t fix the problem if the router can’t hear your device’s puny WiFi card meekly talking back.
    • They are making some very powerful and sophisticated devices
    • This device solved the problem.
    • The X8 has no issues handling all 25 devices and the signal strength is far improved
    • I had problems connecting my 10 devices to wifi which were located in different areas of my two story house
    • This device includes many advance features, support both 2.0 and 3.0 USB port, connect with a printer as a network printer for all your connected compuer, smart phone or tablet
    • Without going into technical details and boring everyone, the fact remains that while you;'re certainly paying for the features both in terms of price as well as device size, you're certainly getting you money's worth as well
    • Device is now crashing DAILY
    • It's been very reliable, and my wireless devices are happy
    • With eight people in the home my 4 year old router just could not handle 10 devices many un-happy campers in the house.
    • prepared”Cons:• “Setup Wizard” needs an update to work properlyOverall, this is a FANTASTIC router that I would recommend to anyone who is looking for the best device on the market
    • First of all, it looks very beautiful unit with blue lighting on its 4 antenna, you can put it on anywhere in your home as a fancy modern device
    • All in all, great device - you won't regret the buy.
    • but when I pay top dollar, I expect the best device and no hassles
    • netgear don't get too complacent with your R&D
