The performance of this is great, the software has some nice features, but us very behind the times for working with Parental controls, WiFi scheduling and other things that are important these days for anyone whom wants to control the amount and time of day that you want available for kids and their devices

It has only been a couple of weeks since purchasing the Nighthawk X8 but so far the performance is excellent and I have enough ports to support a fully wired network that includes multiple PCs,TVs and other entertainment devices

I have never used a Netgear product before so I cannot compare this with the previous versions but compared to other brands I have used, this clearly has far better performance.

For example, the router offers an optional Smart Connect feature that attempts to choose the best radio band for your device thereby improve Wi-Fi performance
