• Reviews around gold (1.95 of 5)

    New Super Mario Bros. 2

    • In this installment, however, it's pushed to the forefront as you'll literally be showered in coins at every corner; enemies cough them up, they spout from pipes and blocks, and there's even a power-up that gives Mario the Midas touch, i.e. the ability to transform the enemies and environments around him into shimmering gold coins
    • Thar be gold in those hills!Sadly the 1,000,000 coin goal falls relatively flat when you actually achieve your goal
    • I stated that every time Nintendo makes a Mario game, it turns out to be pure gold (no pun intended)
    • There are a plethora of means to gain coins which range from the overpowered gold fire flower (which can destroy many enemies, blocks, and even rocks while giving you coins for everything destroyed by the spicy golden meatballs of death you fling), or turning enemies (such as koopas) into gold and kicking them
    • There is aldo the gold flower, which will turn you into Gold mario and Silver Luigi where you can fire at bricks and turn them into coins, and your foes and make them spit out and fire coins at you from Lakitu and the Hammer Brothers
    • New power-ups are introduced that are incredibly fun to use, such as a gold-flower that turns Mario into the Mushroom Kingdom's own version of Midus, where every shimmering gold fireball
    • The big golden coin motif sounds gimmicky because it is, but at its best it adds a nice thematic sheen to the design and gameplay (the golden ring that transforms all enemies and parts of the surrounding environment into sparkling gold is a particularly nice touch). Many of Mario's most familiar power-ups return in NSMB2, including the Super Mushroom, Fire Flower and Tanooki Leaf, the latter of which finally once again grants the power of flight, a welcome addition to most any game
    • This game is essentially a rehash of all those games with nothing unique added(excluding the lame-o coin feature)in
    • i have the wii u and got this mario for my son to play on his ds... awesome game for sure
