If you're having trouble getting one color to light make sure all residue from the sticky tape is gone and the metal prong of the connector is firmly touching the strip connection pad (you can use rubbing alcohol to remove the sticky residue)

The adhesive was great and I really liked all of the features such as many colors, an app, etc.

Sometimes I had to reverse the side of the LED tape that was connected or wiggle it in the connector cilps for all the LED colors to work (check before securing the clips, it'll make your day much easier)
