The character designs are quite nice, Nier himself does take the award for being one of the ugliest characters in the game.
-
I also found each character outstanding, from Nier and his companions to quite a few of the NPCs, to several of the enemies in New Game+.
-
The premise sounded decent enough, and it seemed refreshing to see a Square-Enix game that didn't have a whiny teenage boy as the central character, so I figured I'd give it a shot.
-
The gameplay is a decent hack and slash, and is true that the graphics are alright, but its the narrative, characters and amazing score that wins you over
-
The grafics are beautiful and way different from any FF game I've played and the characters are seriously hilarious.
-
NIER brings on unexpected and bizarre twists at every turn with it's Shadow of the Colossus-esque atmosphere, strange and unique characters and a truly outstanding Soundtrack
-
Then there are moments where the camera likes to pan and face the character forcing you to manually turn the camera around to see in front of you
-
I like the characters and story
-
The main character is a little bit shallow (as in not well developed...not as in frat boy shallow) but that is largely due to the story
-
The voice acting and soundtrack is probably the best in modern gaming history; incredibly powerful orchestral music really draws you into the scene while the voice acting makes you believe the characters' conviction and conflict.
-
Overall, the weakest character is the main character
-
The music, the story, the gameplay, the atmosphere, the characters are just so awesome
-
But to those who enjoy a deep and unique story and characters this is a must have
-
Lovebthis game, great plot and characters. as well as combat
-
Great, sympathetic characters whose motivations make sense... check
-
Emil, a young boy cursed with the ability to petrify anyone he looks at is the sweet innocent character in the story
-
Lastly, you'll meet one of my favorite characters whom I can sympathize with, Emil.
-
The characters are outrageous, and will often be saying very filthy things that will have you laughing out loud.
-
(Emil and Kaine were great characters).
-
The characters are well thought out, the things that you learn by the end of the game add to their depth.
-
The game has well developed characters and plot which mean significantly more to me than graphics.
-
Engrossing story and great characters combined with beautiful music makes this one of the best "niche" games in recent years.
-
The game itself is good, not great, The characters are good, but the totallity of the map feels quite small.
-
The fun gameplay is eclipsed only by the great characters and story
-
The main character is a little bit shallow (as in not well developed...not as in frat boy shallow) but that is largely due to the story
-
The main character is a little bit shallow (as in not well developed...not as in frat boy shallow) but that is largely due to the story

The storyline is overly simplistic and E-rated, taking place in perhaps a total of five (small) locations through which you continually backtrack
