The combat isn't the best, but it is very flavorful

The combat system, so critical to action RPGs like these, while serviceable, becomes repetitive too soon due to a lack of depth and controls that feel a tad bit archaic in the face of current generation action games.

Perhaps more important for the overall enjoyment of the game, the combat got more fun once I was able to upgrade my weapons and my magic spells to satisfying levels.
