• Reviews around gameplay (2.64 of 5)

    NieR - Playstation 3

    • Gameplay is tight and smooth not clunky at all and the magic system is so weird and great, nothing really like it
    • If you're looking for top notch gameplay, you'll probably have to settle for it's sequel
    • The gameplay is fun, but very repetitive.
    • The gameplay gets a bit tedious at times and didn't really live up to its potential, but its not terrible so to speak either
    • It has a good story line, excellent gameplay, and the characters are well developed.
    • The gameplay can be a little repetitive, but the designers spent a good amount of time adding in tweaks to keep it from getting stale; sections of the game play like top down Zelda games, 2D platformers, isometric RPGs, and for one notable section the game goes through great lengths to mimic the original Resident Evil style
    • Graphics are mediocre, but the gameplay is excellent.
    • The gameplay is a decent hack and slash, and is true that the graphics are alright, but its the narrative, characters and amazing score that wins you over
    • Great music, good gameplay, decent graphics and take a point away for the all text story telling
    • It mixes hack-n-slash and JRPG gameplay and tells one of the best stories I have EVER experienced in gaming
    • The gameplay is very fun and frequently reminded me of a Zelda type game
    • Nier sank its hooks into me immediately and even if the gameplay had been significantly worse than what it is, I would have still stayed for the ride, because to me, it was absolutely worth it.
    • The gameplay can get repetitive for some people, judging from professional reviews, but that didn't stop me from enjoying every second of the combat
    • The gameplay is fun, but very repetitive.
    • The gameplay might be repetitive, but everything else is so good that you won't even notice it
    • The flipside to all this, unfortunately, is that this grand story is supported by a game that only provides a mediocre gameplay experience.
    • Gameplay wise the game has a lot of unique ideas
    • Check,Story that does not go anywhere:Check,Ps2 Quality graphics and low res textures:Check,Music that sets the mood for going to sleep rather than exciting gameplay
    • If you enjoyed NieR: Automata the gameplay may feel like a huge downgrade
    • It's got some great gameplay
    • Nier was an interesting experience, the gameplay wasn't complex, but the story was quite intriguing.
    • this game was the only ps3 title i own where i actually wanted to collect all the trophies it had an addicting gameplay element to it
    • Its complex plot and setting, in conjunction with exciting gameplay and absolutely breathtaking design, makes for a game that initially seems good
    • Remember the games on the original playstation where the graphics sucked, but the gameplay was awesome
    • This game has a great story and great gameplay.
    • The main character is a little bit shallow (as in not well developed...not as in frat boy shallow) but that is largely due to the story
    • The storyline is overly simplistic and E-rated, taking place in perhaps a total of five (small) locations through which you continually backtrack
    • The main character is a little bit shallow (as in not well developed...not as in frat boy shallow) but that is largely due to the story
