Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S ED VR II Nikkor Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon DX-Format Digital SLR Cameras(New, White box)

    • Overall a good lense, when auto focusing it makes a really high pitch, kind of like a dog whistle
    • No need to swap lenses and lose time and risk dropping lens or letting dirt into the body
    • Since there are new better camera bodies for the same price coming out pretty much every year and the lenses hold value very well I'd suggest you to consider buying the best lense you can afford and maybe saving a bit on a cheaper body
    • Nikon reserves its Japan facility for its better lenses
    • While the other lenses are certainly capable, unbeatable for the price really, there comes a point when you are tired of swapping lenses and missing that opportunity for the perfect shot
    • Great lense
    • This is by far my favorite lense
    • This won't replace prime lenses, fast lenses, and superzooms
    • If you have the $$$ and need a versatile and flexible super zoom lense, go for this one.
    • You're still going to need prime lenses and/or (expensive) continuous-aperture zoom lenses with wider apertures and less focal length variability
    • Great Lense for the price
    • I avoided buying a Nikon kit with several inferior lenses
    • May not be as crisp as higher priced lenses but that's why they are higher priced
    • This lens will not take pictures as sharp as lenses like the 50mm 1.8D or 35mm 1.8G etc
    • So bottom line is - if you can afford the Nikon 18-200 mm lense - go for it
    • You can find cheaper lenses, but consider how long you will be using the lens
    • I wanted a do-it-all lens that I could keep on my camera unless really low light situation required faster prime lenses
    • he had the Nikon lens pictured in the writeup) are basically beneath them, because they're not as sharp as they could be, or they're not as rugged as the more expensive lenses, etc
    • Husband loves this lense
    • I can fix the distortions, if they matter, in software, and FAR cheaper than I can in more expensive and additional lenses.
    • There is an important place for prime lenses, tilt-and-shift lenses, and even fish-eyes, but for the general Nikon enthusiast, this is one of the great lenses to have come out in recent memory
    • But That's why they make better portrait lenses
    • its probably one of the nicer lenses i have used, basically i am using this lens only, unless i am shooting at night and do not have a tripod, in that case ill use my 35mm f1.8
    • the one!I think the 200mm is not as sharp as many other lenses I have used, for eg, canon 70-
    • You can spend twice as much for a prime lens (70-200 2.8), but then you'd have to buy 2 prime lenses (like 70-200 2.8 and 24-70 2.8) to cover this range... at about 3 times the cost!!!
    • Nikon make great photo lenses, I have made this my everyday lens
    • This lense is awsome!
    • Great lense for beginners.
    • There may be some cheaper lenses out there, but I haven't found one yet as good
    • It focuses fairly quickly, zooms smoothly, and seems very sharp even compared to good quality prime lenses
    • It is now my favorite lense.
    • A bit less sharp than other not as drastic zoom lenses, even with low F stop
    • Auto-focus is quite fast for a super-zoom lens (although not in absolute terms, say compared to fast prime lenses) and the optical stabilization works very effectively, allowing you to work with slower shutter speed than otherwise possible without VR (Nikonspeak for optical stabilization)
    • If I didn't have other great Nikon lenses (like a 60mm macro), I would never switch lenses.
    • Most people say this lense is nice but too expensive
    • Nikon box looked a little worn, but serial numbers matched perfectly and the new lense's serial number was properly greater than the one that I had bought a few months ago
    • Boy did I hate the two kit lenses that came with my D5100, strictly for amateurs (in the greater sense, that is)
    • You can get much cheaper lenses from other vendors like Sigma etc
    • A bit less sharp than other not as drastic zoom lenses, even with low F stop
