Quality of pictures are not the best but above other consumer zoom lens

Will not buy another Nikon/Nikkor lens....poor quality for such a prominent name.

I have the earlier G version of this lens and have loved it for its huge zoom range and the good quality photos it creates on my D5200.

it does not have the build quality of Nikon's top-of-the-line.

Prime lens tends to provide better quality within their own turf, with the trade off buying, carrying and changing lens all the time, not to mention the chance to miss the shot when you have to change lens.

The main point of this lens is it's "superzoom" wide-angle to telephoto range, not speed or the absolute best optical quality that physics allow

The D7000 tends to overexpose in outside shots, but that's not the fault of this lens, which really does a good job of handling its whole range from 18 to 200 mm with little lens flare, overall good sharpness, and just generally good image quality

If you haven't yet got DXO, it will improve the technical quality of your photos far more than any possible lens upgrade could do.

It focuses fairly quickly, zooms smoothly, and seems very sharp even compared to good quality prime lenses

The VR also comes in very useful in lower light conditions as it stabilizes your shot for you while your shutter speed is decreased thus allowing you to keep a lower ISO for better color and image quality
