If you've never shot with a fast prime, it makes a world of difference for depth of field and low light work, and comparing the contrast and colors of an identical landscape shot taken with this and the 18-55mm at 35mm, the picture quality from the 35mm f1.8 was at least as amazing, and occasionally noticeably better (all pictures straight out of camera, and with the exception of the candle, rose, and sprouts, taken the same day as I received the lens).All in all, this is a definite winner, and excellent value for the price.

Fantastic lens and having recently sold it, retained its value well after 4 years of use (I got a FX camera so needed new lenses).

While the price seemed a little high at first given the total price of our DSLR, after some research I found that it was very good value for what you get.

Its very used and if Amazon continues like this they will be like ebay and can not be trusted as to the conditions of there products they sell

I would prefer a 28mm or 18mm, but to get a Nikon brand f/1.8 in either of those would have been several times the price of this one.

I needed this lens mainly to accommodate the space limitations that I have as well as for the speed when shooting in natural light
