The lens does have a couple sticky spots as you zoom.

I think a couple of stick-on dots or maybe a little finger nail polish will do the trick.

I lost a couple of shots of ducks on my patio because, not only couldn't it figure out what to focus

I like this 55-300 lens so far, couple of times I was frustrated why I can't take a nice sharp image, but later I read about precision setups all over the internet forums and the problem is solved.so now I'm happy with this lens, and guys make sure don't give up... make research how to set up in the right way your equipment.
