The clarity with this lens is great and even on the 300mm length I can get clear shots except in low light situations

I was also able to follow birds in flight and get some nice shots

The autofocus is fast and I get crisp shots even in burst more when the target is moving fairly fast

But it does provide nice tight shots from a distance that don't look like distant shots allowing for nice portrait style for sports and mountain outings

Some of my best shots are from around 200 mm with this lens.

I have not printed any shots yet to be able to see the full affects, but I like the lens.

I love this lens, getting great shots of the kids baseball and soccer games.

I have a 35 mm , a 18-55mm but this is the lenses I get the best shots, The pictures are clear, bright and always perfectly focused

I don't know how it works, but it's amazing, and lets you take sharp handheld shots zoomed all the way in

I found that the better lit fields I shot well and the poorly lit fields after the sun goes down were harder to get clear shots at the high zoom ranges

The zoom was excellent and we got some amazing shots

Without this one, though, I would've missed some great shots

The equivalent 450mm zoom, though, is great, and even near dusk I was able to get respectable shots without cranking up the ISO too much

But with the 55-300mm lens you can take incredible shots from a huge distance

The VRII definitely helps steady hand held shots at lower shutter speeds

Be sure to have a quality tripod for stability and vibration dampening for sharp and clear shots.

I only managed to get a few good shots with the older manual focus lens

I was in a hurry to buy this lens, since it was so competitively priced and I liked taking shots of birds

VR also really works wonders... at 300mm and without a tripod it's possible to get some very stable shots !

Ordered this lens to take action shots at my son and daughter's baseball/softball games and absolutely love how close I get with this lens....got some GREAT shots!

It takes well exposed shots at all focal lengths and the full zoom pius in good light are very sharp

It is smaller than the 70-300, which is nice, produces good quality shots, and focuses decently fast.

I was able to zoom in so close making excellent shots on the beach or in the surf without having to get into the water.

the 55mm-300mm was to close to really get any great shots of the coaster, so make sure to have a smaller lens with you ;) lol

The VR works great to stabilize hand-held shots in lower light

you can not get close enough to get good shots with the 18 - 55 MM lens.

Without this one, though, I would've missed some great shots

It can take great shots far away, but the sharpness is not the best

Don't expect this lens to really work indoors especially for faster shots

I took the lens the day after I bought it to the beach in Cherry Grove,SC and got great shots of peligans and other shore birds

If you don't have the full budget to spend on a faster zoom lens then you can get some pretty good shots from this lens

, I even handhold, a lot, and get really nice clear shots.

It works fantastic for capturing outdoor shots at a distance.
