I am not a professional photographer but this lens for the pro-sumer market is an excellent value.

Not as sharp as I'd like, but very versatile.

Hoods kinda cheap as it doesn't screw on.

In the mean time i plan on taking great pictures using my 55-300 and hopefully the zooming will smooth out as it gets used more.
