Nikon AF-S FX NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens with Auto Focus for Nikon DSLR Cameras

    • Sharp focus, nice photos
    • I really like this lens, but it does take some practice because there is no zoom, and the focus is so sharp that I can have the tip of someones nose in focus and the rest of their face blurry if I don't get the setting right.
    • smooth fast sharp focus
    • Nice focus lens
    • Fast Focus.
    • In terms of focus speed, the 50mm f/1.8G focuses a tad faster than the 50mm f/1.4G. Manual focusing on the 50mm f/1.4G however is easier than on the 50mm f/1.8G.
    • I use for food photography and works very nice 👍🏻 colors is really natural and focus is perfect 🙌
    • On a parenthetical note, I have found that all of the Nikon lenses I have bought thus far for my D7100 have been off (some significantly) in terms of crisp and sharp focus.
    • Super sharp, focused quickly and accurately (I use single point AF for portrait work).
    • I mostly shoot still life and this lens gives me great focus and depth of field on my small subjects that I just can't get with any other lens
    • Super sharp and fast focus
    • It does have a nice auto focus or manual which I do use a lot to control the blurriness of the background
    • Super fast auto-focus, feels heavy and well-built
    • It's a very slow focus lens with a crippled feature set and a fairly narrow range of uses
    • When I get a new lens, I refine the auto focus for each of my lenses
    • great quality, quick focus, and great for anything
    • Faster auto-focusing and great for all lighting conditions
    • Two, the f1.8 maximum aperture means you can take nicer shots in dim light without resorting to flash - and that maximum aperture means you can also have "narrow depth of field" - the fancy way of saying that your subject will be in sharp focus while the background is all blurred out - great for professional looking portraits
    • Focus precision between these two lenses are about the same but the 50mm f/1.8G focuses quieter than the 50mm f/1.4D.The primary advantage of the 50mm f/1.4D over this lens is primarily in it being 2/3 of a stop faster and it having an aperture ring.
    • The one issue I do have is that in darker nightclub atmospheres, at least with my camera (Nikon D5100,) this lens doesn't seem to want to auto focus very well, and it's usually too dark to attemp a manual focus
    • Focus is relatively quiet and fast, and images come out really sharp!
    • Silent and fast focus, good resolution even wide open
    • The result: If you have a camera, you need this durable, accurate, sharp, and well built with reasonably priced silent motored auto focus 50mm 1.8G
    • The focus has no hard infinity stop...not ideal for astronomy
    • It is wicked sharp and blurs the background perfectly without being too pinpoint in selective focus
    • It's not quite as quiet as I would like when auto-focusing - at least when I do movies you can hear in the playback the lens focusing, so I have just ended up doing manual focusing when doing movies
    • The bokeh effect is nice and focusing is pretty nice and quiet
    • Great lens for the price, very sharp and quick focus.
    • Sharp lens with extremely quiet auto focus.
    • Of course if your camera doesn't support the older screw style focusing, then the decision is easy.
    • For plants, it's adequate, though focusing close enough to build a good frame filling shot of most flowers requires playing the accordion game in order to find a distance at which it can achieve a decent focus
    • Very crisp with excellent bokah, fast focus and great low light ability with the wide aperture
    • Its focus is fast and best
    • Fast focus and very sharp
    • 5 stars for being a newer, fast focusing, sharp prime
    • Extremely fast focusing and super clear photos.
    • The 50mm f/1.4G is targeted more towards professionals with better manual focus feel and also twice as long of a focus
    • Much faster focusing than the stock or entry level 50 - 200mm zoom lens
    • Sharpness everywhere, beautiful contrast, fast auto focus, smooth and creamy bokeh wide open, good low-lighting performance, that's what you get when shooting with this lens
    • Work great as a manual & auto focus.
    • Other than that the lens is super sharp, has a relatively fast auto focus and superb bokeh
    • Biggest problem was focusing on the lips by accident and leaving the eyes unfocused.just what I
    • what a treat I was in for... the focus was quiet and snappy, although just a tad bit slower than the 1.4 afd version.the sharpness was great starting from wide open and gets better as you stop down the aperture range
    • Manual focus with it is more accurate than the crappy autofocus on the AF-S version
    • Plastic build but sturdy, and quick, effective focus.
    • Sharp, fast focusing, and the price is right
    • My only problem with the lens is that often wants to force focusing to the center in auto focus more so than any other Nikon lens I've worked with before
    • What a difference -- silent focus, fast focus.
    • Not having the automatic focus is a little annoying.
    • I love the auto focus or manual option
    • Fast focus
    • The autofocus is incredible, and the manual focusing is great; just a little trickier to get used to
    • Lightweight, decently sharp on my D810 (even sharper on lower res cameras) and accurate focus.
    • The focus at full open is much sharper, you wont regret it.
    • , I like the overriding manual focus, and its a wonderful lens completely affordable from Nikon
    • Auto focus on a lens with this shallow depth of filed basically renders the lens useless
    • Shooting wide-open will give you gorgeous results, as you can see from the uploaded picture+Fast focusing speed
    • so focus might be more precise on the 1.4G, but slightly slower too.
    • Sharp and fast focus
    • Manual focus allows me to blur the foreground, middle, or background (bokeh) respectively
    • It blurs the background beautifully while focusing on the main object.
    • no doubt better than the old d type well designed and light weight ..fast focus and its so quiet !!
    • Invariably only one person in the group was in clear focus.
    • In manual mode the focusing is also dead on
    • Fast focus and clear image.
    • The focus was sharp when it did focus, but it tended to seek too much
    • Have used it for semi-close-ups for its sharpness and selective focus, but can only get about 8 inches away (dx sensor camera); of course it's not really a macro lens
    • Nice bokeh, fast focus
    • Good price, nice image quality (really sharp focus and beautiful blur) , well builded
    • Also, it's really fast when focusing
    • so focus might be more precise on the 1.4G, but slightly slower too.
    • (though not always accurate) focusing.
    • Has good auto focus
    • Sadly my camera will not support auto focus in the D so had to get the G, which is fine
    • So getting a crisp focus can be a challenge when folks are swarming but when the subject is still it gets a fabulous shot
    • The lens is also good for videos because the focusing is silky smooth
    • Focus is fast, but nothing to brag about
    • The autofocus is incredible, and the manual focusing is great; just a little trickier to get used to
    • After a good deal of time using the 50mm f/1.4D, I decided that I wanted to pick up a quieter auto-focus
    • The focus is sharp and very quick
    • Sharp, light weight and fast focusing
    • The 50mm f/1.4G also has half an f/stop advantage
    • The sharpest F stop for bags with this lens is around f6~8 (for bag shots anyway).I also noticed this lens gives off a bluish tone on the hot spots, whilst other Nikon lenses do not (same setting)
    • The quality isn't as good as the f/1.4G but its pretty close to it!I highly recommend this for any one who loves bookeh!!
    • It feels sturdy and has a great f stop.
    • Prior to this lens, I owned the 50mm f/1.8D, which I loved
    • I also had the 50mm f/1.4G, which I loved for it's nice bokeh and of course the fact it was a f/1.4.
