    • Takes great photos with little effort in settings!I would defiantly recommend this to the average point and shoot photographer.
    • Takes great photos with little effort in settings!I would defiantly recommend this to the average point and shoot photographer.
    • This can make an amateur photographer (like myself) take quite amazing photos, without having to adjust your aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc.
    • These cameras take great photos in Auto, but take GORGEOUS photos in Manual.
    • Easy to use, battery lasts, and love the photos.
    • I was most interested as I like to take nice photos for my blogging and also practice photography techniques with my children
    • Great photo's and usability
    • The VR prevents you from taking unclear photos if your hands are shaking while taking photos - great for children, elderly people or excited people, like me, sometimes :)I love the portrait mode and the fast shutter mode (for taking sports photos)
    • The auto setting does a great job putting together the right settings, and if you know what you are doing, you can take some really amazing photos with this camera by adjusting the settings.
    • Perhaps I just don't know how to use it correctly but I am disappointed that even on Auto, I can't get good photos.
    • Being on a small budget as an aspiring photographer, I find that this camera perfectly meets my needs, earning me some good quality photos and income without costing me a fortune
    • the photos we can take now are amazing
    • So far it takes great photos and has alot of features.
    • It takes great quality photos and is lighter than i thought it would be
    • It will capture clear photos and works very well with creative shots for the more advanced photographers
    • I'm still working on figuring out all the setting on this camera, but I have used the auto mode and sport mode, and have captured some excellent action soccer photos of my kids!
    • For my first foray into the DSLR world I wanted a nice camera that didn't go overboard on the features, but also took crisp, clean photos
    • I look forward to many years of great photos.
    • I wanted the ability to take photos of fast moving objects and to generally take "better" photos than standard point-and-shoot cameras.
    • I admit, it's not as easy to take with you as a point & shoot (can't just stuff in my purse), but when you want to take some outstanding photos it is well worth bringing the camera bag along.
    • Honestly with little effort, my photos look like a professional took them
    • Takes a little while to get around the shortcuts but the photos are great in all the conditions I've used so far (dark, interior portraits, landscapes)
    • This camera is exactly what it claims to be: a DSLR that takes sharp photos and 10 minutes(more or less) of HD video (mainly due to the way Nikon decided to save the file - "MOV")
    • Outside: amazingly gorgeous photos
    • It takes wonderful photos and is very easy to operate
    • I am a Jewelry maker and seller on Etsy and have been searching high and low for the perfect camera to take clear, crisp, well-lit photos
    • Comes with good basic photo software too
    • It struggles in low light but as long as you don't edit it too much, it will get a decent photo
    • And those photos looks super nice on my iMac 27.
    • getting used to it, so far photo's are very good
    • I am a throwback from the 35mm SLR days of b&w photography and haven't touched anything but a point and shoot since I lost all my developing equipment, chemicals, papers, and priceless photos in a flood in 1983.
    • I could go on and on about how great the photos are that this camera takes, but in the end it all comes down to preference, so I will just save you the reading and upload photos I've taken, and give this camera my absolute recommendation as an entry level DSLR.
    • I highly recommend this camera to anyone who is just starting in digital photography, or anyone who just loves taking great photos but can't afford to buy a professional camera.
    • It takes very clear, well lit photo's
    • Where formerly such photos would be blurred by hand motion, now steady shots are possible.
    • I get the same poor quality photos that I used to get on my cheap Sony camera.
    • I took the camera on a family trip and was able to take exceptional photos essentially "out of the box".
    • Good luck and happy photo taking.
    • it is advanced enough to take great photo's but easy enough that my wife can use it to take herfamily photos
    • I bought this camera in order to take better photos for my food blog, and HD videos for my media production class
    • I have always been a frustrated photo-phile in that, because of eye issues I often cannot focus properly when squinting through a view finder, even while using the diopter adjustment (which the D3100 has, of course)- but the Silent Wave auto focus on this camera is wonderful
    • and I moved around while taking photos of my 2 yr old and wow none of them was blur, even in a darken
    • I'm amped to finally have the option, after having my dad's old fully manual 35mm, which took great photos but had no digital capabilities, and required film
    • I highly recommend this camera to anyone who is just starting in digital photography, or anyone who just loves taking great photos but can't afford to buy a professional camera.

    • I have had this camera for about 4 years, it takes great photos, vivid videos and has an overall solid build
    • Camera feels good in the hands, is intuitive to navigate menus, and takes fantastic photos
    • I strongly recommend this camera who want to have great indoor photos without flash
    • It's not always as sharply focused as I want it to be - particularly when using it at work for some fine-detailed product photos
    • I have been taking photos as an enthusiast for over 25 years and have owned all sorts of gear from Nikon, Canon, Minolta and Leica
    • It's a good photo camera and takes great low light photos without a flash
    • It offers great features, which are enough to get great looking photos.
    • Many photos are worth printing and framing for gifts
    • If I'm taking photos left, right and center, I do now cheat a little and use Aperture Priority mode quite a

    • I have taken some great photos with it, and the images are great
    • I'm not an experienced photographer, just a mommy that wants to take great photos!!
    • It struggles in low light but as long as you don't edit it too much, it will get a decent photo
    • and little by little I learned how to take nice photos and use this DSLR Camera, I think my money is worth
    • Camera made up for his mistakes, there is not a bad photo in the lot!
    • It's easy to use, and I can get amazing photos either in automatic mode or in manual mode, if I want to bring out the old photography student in me
    • It’s an awesome entry-level D-SLR that takes great photos and has many options and accessories available that can make it even better.
    • It also has a better sensor, but again, if you are on a budget, the D3100 is great, you can buy better lenses later to improve even more your photos.
    • Good quality photos and my son dropped on concrete and it barely has a scratch on it!
    • The following contains the positives and the negatives:Pros (what I love about the D3100):-The lightest in the Nikon DSLR lineup (great for my small hands unlike my old D70)-High quality photos (beginners will be impressed)-Takes decent photos in low light environment (although a small external flash, SB-400 is beneficial in very dark settings)-Guide mode for beginners (assist in the learning process of aperture, WB, etc.)-1080p HD video recording (although I have not utilize this feature, I'm sure it will come handy when needed).Cons (what I hate about the D3100):-No in body autofocus motor (which implies old Nikon lens without the focusing motor mechanism must be operated manually attached to the D3100)-The D3100 requires the AF-S lenses for focusing (these type of lenses are normally $100 - $200 more expensive compared with regular lenses)-LCD screen only offers 320,000 dots of resolution (I find myself zooming the screen all the time to ensure focus were done correctly; what a headache!)-No wireless remote option (are you kidding me
    • Much improved over the typical smart phone photos that we took before this came along.
    • I can't take rapid photos either...there is a 5 second delay between each photo
    • I had no idea that there was a camera that existed that would allow me to take such clean, crisp photos as afforded me by the Nikon D3100.
    • Now I am taking photos like a pro
    • If you have good composition skills and an eye for light you can take photos worthy of a magazine with this
    • It's honestly really difficult to take a bad photo with this camera
    • After years of shooting what I thought were good photos with a small point and shoot camera, I recently took the leap and bought myself this Nikon D3100 DSLR camera.
    • Some of the pocket cameras do take great photos indeed
    • It is easy to take good photos using simple category settings for various situations
    • this camera works great has a amazing resolution, I have a very nice photos, your battery has a long duration, is very light, is the perfect camera in relation to its price and quality
    • The VR prevents you from taking unclear photos if your hands are shaking while taking photos - great for children, elderly people or excited people, like me, sometimes :)I love the portrait mode and the fast shutter mode (for taking sports photos)
    • The close up mode and the night mode are to die for and you will not believe how good your photos in low light will turn out
    • For example, the camera works splendidly and takes good photos even while walking briskly or in an automobile.
    • This camera takes THE best photos
    • Perhaps not a fair comparison to the D3100 since the T2i is geared towards intermediate users, but for only $200 you get so much more - in body autofocus motor, amazing LCD, bigger viewfinder, AEB, light and small, and also takes great photos
    • She loves it, it takes great photos and still operates like brand new.
    • I still have a long ways to go in terms of learning how to use all of the features on this camera, but I like the photos that I have taken with it.

    • This is a tremendous camera to learn with and takes fabulous photos
    • Hard to set focus for a good photo
    • And now that I am pretty well over my initial shock, I have done some nearly 300 photos so far and am blown away at the results !
    • It takes wonderful photos and is a great camera for the price!
    • Nikon's Vibration Reduction (VR) technology in the lens allows you to take sharp photos at lower shutter speeds without a tripod

    • Our latest Canon P&S is only a few years old, so I honestly didn't really think that I needed any upgrade, but after our first son was born a few months ago, we broke down and bought the D3100 because we were having so much trouble getting good, clear photos of him
    • Will hopefully get many years of great photos.

    • I am very much an amateur but desperately want to be able to take beautiful photos of my kids.
    • I have gotten some really good photos, but the only thing is to get used to manually moving the focus
    • It takes great photos, works with all of my technology, and gives me the tools I need to learn about taking photographs
    • I lost so many photos because the camera would look like it was going to focus and as I pushed the shutter button, it completely went blurry.
    • Given good light this little lens produces exceptional photos.
    • It has interchangable lenses (though I only have the lens it came with for now), and many features to ehlp make my photos look very good.
    • This camera has given me professional quality photos that I have been able to use for Christmas cards, family portraits, and just all round great photos for our albums.
    • I've had this camera for just 2 years, and while it takes great photos and is a great entry-level DSLR, I was heartbroken when it broke on me (specifically the shutter) at the very beginning of a 3-week trip to Asia
    • Takes great photos, recommend the user thouroughly read the manual via the cd rom as well as take advantage of all the tutorials on the Nikon USA site.
    • Our latest Canon P&S is only a few years old, so I honestly didn't really think that I needed any upgrade, but after our first son was born a few months ago, we broke down and bought the D3100 because we were having so much trouble getting good, clear photos of him
    • Family has even seen the pictures and asked what we were using to take such great photos
    • I just use the camera for family photos and some sports events and it takes fabulous, professional-looking photos.

    • This camera take fantastic photos and is fairly easy to use.
    • Easy to use plus it takes gorgeous photos

    • but I'll keep it because it will gets great photos
    • If you want to go and spend a lot more money, feel free, but buying a more expensive camera isn't going to make for better photos
    • I have always used compact P&S cameras and have always been happy with most of the results
    • I still use a compact P&S just because of the convenience they offer but when I am in need of great
    • Additionally, you can be in a preferred dial (imaging) mode (Auto, P, A, S, M, and so on) and change the release mode to Single, Continuous, Self-timer or Quiet mode (this is located right underneath the main dial) - another great convenient feature.+ (04-Oct-2010
