Other thing you should consider is that you cant really exploit this beautiful 24mp sensor without a really good lens
-
The D5200 with a fast lens is a real dream camera
-
Was a cheap replacement (compared to a lost lens) and the photographic day was not ruined.2
-
The lens (18-55mm) is great as well
-
But, once you attach the correct lens to a DSR, then its magic will come out
-
A proper lens cleaning kit
-
love the camera and everything about it just that when i received the camera the lens was damaged a bit
-
It's a very nice camera the pictures are too clear and the lens is versatile.
-
No reason to change over to the 60D, this camera takes great video when you put a good lens on it (I used the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 lens set to aperture of 2.8, Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6, and Sigma 18-50
-
The lens is a bit limiting but is good for the range it was made for.
-
If you want to get the most out of the sensor you need a great lens, some recommend the prime 1.8 so check that out
-
I wanted to replace my D300S which lasted me 12 years, The D610 wasn't a good option because I'd have to buy new, expensive FX lens
-
We use it primarily for sports but have had great luck with portraits with a 50mm lens as well
-
Great camera and lens set at this price range
-
A great camera and lens
-
Great lens
-
Other reviewer's have mentioned how they didn't like the stock lens, but I have really liked everything that has come out of the camera
-
Great camera/lens combination for the price.
-
It is a very precise platform, when attached to the correct lens, where as a P'n'S is not
-
On the other hand, for about $1,000 for the D5200 and a compatible lens, perhaps most consumers (particularly those who won't be wanting to use various lenses)could do as well with a lower cost, more pocket size camera, while photographers who are used to a larger size camera with controls we can use without looking may find themselves a bit frustrated
-
Nikon makes some quality cameras and the D5200 has a great balance of photo and video quality for under $1000 with a decent variable or prime lens
-
In a few words, the D5200 has the best camera sensor you can buy with around 500 box, and with a good lens, you will have a professional quiality kit that dont have very much to envy to the high-end photography cameras.
-
The 55m lens is great for almost everything so its more than enough for beginners
-
should be one of the first lenses you get, incredible lens, the nikons 35mm and 50mm dont seem to match its sharpness
-
I highly recommend this camera and this lens to go with it - 70-300 F4.5-5.6 G ED-INTERNAL FOCUS AF-S VR
-
Very good camera with a decent zoom lens
-
I'd strongly recommend a lens hood for the kit lens, and certainly at least one prime lens if you are just beginning with DSLRs.
-
The lens included is a good starter lens.
-
My favorite lens to pair it with is the fast 35mm, especially for portraits indoors with natural light
-
so I didn't need a duplicate lens, but the battery for my D90 does not work with this camera.
-
but that just cost 100$ and also the extra lens is not all that great
-
I considered some interchangeable lens cameras like the Sony NEX line
-
I also like the lens available for the DSLR camaras
-
I do recommend a longer lens for distance shooting.
-
If I could do it again, I would probably opt for the VR 18-55 and invest in a nicer telephoto lens
-
the lens is a nice middle ground for focal lengths (at least for my needs).
-
At best, the VR 18-55mm might work well as a portrait lens when 'soft' is desired.
-
For just under $500 for the body you can buy a few prime lenses or a nice zoom lens and a memory card and stay under a grand
-
The Nikon 55-200mm DX VR is a VERY GOOD lens, you do not want to get it later since you may be paying the full price for a new one
-
Thankfully Nikon has excellent lens selection.
-
, i.e. shutter speed with a speed flash will not go faster than 1/250 s, etc
-
Switched from Canon Rebel DSLR’s to Nikon and glad I made the switch.
-
It will only auto-focus with the proprietary Nikon AF-S and expensive Nikon AF-1 lenses
