It takes amazing pictures, but not so great videos

I learn a lot from using this and it takes great pictures in the auto modes.

Lots to learn, but even using auto settings can take some great, rich pictures

My D70s is a 6MP camera, and the pictures are gloriously beautiful (see the D70s group on Flickr).The battery life is about 200 shots for me, but I've been using the LCD screen alot and playing with settings, menus, etc.

This is an okay camera for the money if you're just looking to take cat pictures and Niagra Falls pictures on your vacation.

Great for someone teaching themselves photography, because it gives you the option to adjust all the individual settings like a pro, but also has fantastic quality pictures on the automatically selectable settings based on what kind of picture you're taking (portrait, outdoors, etc)

I think,... does baerly above 90 degrees on this camera, and good pictures (but has no VR).

Travelling within big cities is fine but when you go outside of the major areas, it is a necessity to be able to recall where you might have stopped for a moment but captured a fantastic picture.

Takes wonderful pictures

The camera takes very pretty pictures as Nikon suggests, but beware, if you are buying the camera for video as I did, it has some major shortcomings

It's a very good lens with AF-S VR and takes very sharp pictures; it's just not the focal length for me

Although the D5300 has proven itself to take wonderful pictures, it has unfortunately been plagued with some odd quirky issues and serious quality problems.

While some pictures that I shoot so far are accurate, most of them are at least 50ft-100ft off and many are even more than 1,000ft off!

For those who want super easy the Auto mode takes great pictures.

I took a photo of a hummingbird and zooming in on the screen the picture remained clear until extremely zoomed in

It takes good pictures, but the trouble I have with it is that it won't shut off automatically if I forget to turn it off after taking pictures.

It's definitely harder to take pictures in lowlight, my pictures with the lights is a big noisy as the only other exterior lighting was a light box

You really have to work at taking a bad picture with this camera

The files sizes are huge (11MP JPGs), so your hard-drive and uploads to facebook, twitter, etc will take much longer... so just shoot in 6MP "fine" or "normal" and you'll get fantastic pictures, without the bloated file sizes.
