Outstanding image quality across the board.1

The quality is so high, and the resolution so good on the D800 that I think you'll get camera shake and off-focus issues before the anti-aliasing filter would start blurring anything

I wanted to make sure I had the best quality photos from the beginning.

One issue I have continuously is accidentally hitting the Quality, ISO and WB adjustments

In stark contrast to the 5D MkIII it has at least 20% better image quality with around 60% more detail and is 500 bucks less is there any reason these are sold out till next year in many stores?Canon

It exceeds the quality of medium format film cameras in a much more portable size and weight

Despite the difficulty handling large RAW files, it is generally a welcome additional along with its amazing image quality.

This is a top quality camera that takes pictures that will blow your mind

Amazing photo quality, but the one i ordered came with a defect.

Fine quality is 5.5 mb, Normal is 3.3 mb, and Basic is 1.5 mb.-Medium (about 19 megapixels)

A fairly minor issue considering the quality of the images, but still, I loved that little thing

However, its rewards in terms of outstanding image quality are unmatched

The FX sensor is great the quality is unreal.

I really want to rate it 5 stars but can only give one because of the poor quality control from Nikon.

UPDATE - Also consider the fact that you will be carrying much more weight and bulk because the D800 and better quality lenses are also heavier and larger.

and you get a horrible image quality.

I don't usually mind a little of hand shake with video, but this camera gives such great quality videos, that other little aspects start to come to the forefront...such as an unsteady hand.

In truth this image quality was as good as my best Hasselblad images (but no my Hasslelbad is NOT for sale).I think this is probably the camera to get if you want the best image quality in the Nikon Line

I doubt that I have anything more positive to say about the Nikon D800 that hasn't already been said, but I just want to personally tout its amazing video quality

3/16/14Okay, I had to add another star due to the phenomenal image quality produced from this camera

With the high MP you need sharp lenses and think of it as a medium format film camera .You need to use higher shutter speeds and mid range F-stops to get the sweet spot quality

It has an amazing image quality.

I am mostly a stills person and therefore I love the dreamy yet sutnningly realistic quality of the photos from the D800 so far and it is going to be my main camera for at least the next two years.

Fine quality is about 17 mb, Normal is 9.5 mb, Basic is 5.2 mb

Canon is able to maitain the good quality status under this very competitive environment

After working out a good post-processing solution, I am very happy with this camera and the stellar image quality and pro feature set.

Bottom line - these cameras are very close, but if you are looking for the best absolute image quality, the d800 provides it

The bokeh with the 16-35, 50, and 70-200 lenses is exceptional and the images have a haunting beauty almost 3-D quality

Top quality, enough weight to hold it steady, fast and easily operated, but above all true film quality results

I'm not going to touch upon the great vidio quality.

Do you already have some quality, full frame glass you can slap on it?

I love the upgraded functionality and quality.

Nikon truely shines with its built-in flash as it comes quite handy for fill-in flash

I did not at first and my images were not as sharp as I wanted them to be

If the camera worked as it should it would be wonderful, however in my limited experience it doesn't

I was bit surprised, that there was no signs of use, everything works as it should be

Until I can afford the 85/1.4, this glass will remain my "portrait" lens.70-200 VR: DX just as good as on the D200.

the shutter sound is a little different from what i am used to ... as in a little louder.... kind of nervous to use it at my first wedding lol but it is a super great camera!
