It's really nice to be able to keep a pair connected to the Switch and have another pair to use when in docked mode, since some games feel really nice with the joy-con rather than the pro controller, and I can still just pull my Switch out of its dock with the other pair already attached

The Nintendo Switch Joy Con's really make it convenient and simplistic with elements of the Wii and traditional controls in the way we play games like Mario Kart 8 or 1,2,Switch with ease

Sure, you should get that external charger (and you might want to do that too), and remedy that issue, but a better plan is:Swap out your joy-cons, and then your other pair can charge, while you have a fresh set to game with.
