While you won't expect Poke'mon games to run in 60 FPS, the CPU boost is definitely needed, as the old 3DS can feel sluggish at times when it comes to UI operations.

I love the 3DS, its library of games is decent and has good sound and graphics.

The 3DS allowed for a wide variety of SD card types, however the New 3DS only allows for micro SD, which limits how much you can put onto the device at once

The original 3DS was a great piece of technology, and if you cannot afford the upgrade you still have a quality piece of hardware, but if you can afford the next step, I recommend it
