I had to super glow the ball on my camaro leather dashboard and also the magnet on the phone is annoying and might hurt your phone

then I'd try to pull the phone off the magnet to use and it would rip the ball off the dashboard with it

Interestingly, the small, shiny steel 1" diameter ball and mount, with my iPhone removed, has a simple, attractive elegance that makes all the claw-like/vise-grip phone and tablet car mounts look gross and obtrusive

I wish I could return it because the magnet came off my phone and now all I have is a useless ball on my car vent

My cheaper magnetic ball mount did a great job but double sided tape failed so I decided to spend a bit more and get my money worth

The smooth ball has nothing to bite into to keep hold.

So the magnetic ball that sticks on the surface fell off 4 times

The remedy it so use a tissue and some rubbing alcohol to clean both the gasket and also the steel ball.

The double sided tape in the ball is cheap, ball keeps falling

However, my issue is design...while the other balls give you 2/3rds the ball to work with and thus allow a lot of variation of tilt etc the pedestal only gives you half the ball (maybe to limit tipping).

I also have the cheaper ball and cup system and have been very pleased with this as well

Truck rides rough so the vent clip ball and magnet doesn't hold phone very still

I wish the ball was rougher of the grip was stronger

I gave three stars only because the coating on the magnet wore off in a week and the cheaper no choice ball magnet my coworker bought has held up much better

I tried cleaning the steel ball and the rubbery piece in the socket, but it couldn't be restored.

The balls is strong but as soon as you hit a bump your phone falls and

I tried to roughen the ball with 100 grit sandpaper at first but ended up using a stone bit on a drill to texture the ball surface enough to stabilize the phone’s weight

Went driving down the road and the round magnetic ball would let the phone roll as you went around curves, then eventually then the phone sink to where it was angled too far down

Now, the ball comes off the console and my phone falls all the time

TIP" clean the ball and the red rubber area at the base of the magnet with alcohol every once and a while

When it gets hot the ball falls off your dashboard

You can put the ball back on and as it cools it sticks itself back in

I followed the installation directions ( twice and even ordered another installation kit) and the ball continued to fall off

Why would you have a rotating ball in this application, dumb.

However the ball was hard to use with thicker fingers

The magnetic ball is not secured into the mount, so it cannot be used in my car.

Day 2: The ball fell off my dash, and disappeared

Vent ball mount was heavy that would tilt the vent down and the phone as well most of the time

This works awesome IF you take some emery paper and scuff up the steel ball that mounts to your dash or whatever.

Furthermore, I followed the instructions on placing the magnetic ball mount on my dash; cleaning and wiping with the alcohol wipes and waiting for the sticky pads to get a firm grip before trying, only to yet again find that the sticky pads aren't strong enough to combat the magnets' pull

Once I scuffed up the steel ball the thing works awesome.
