I had those hard plastic rigid chair mats that discolored and cracked and scratched the floor and that were difficult to keep in place and kept sliding.

We recently upgraded our floors and needed a chair mat that wouldn't damage the floor and would prevent the chair from damaging the floors.

The fact that the floor was so slippery cause the chair to be unsteady (for lack of a better word) and actually was painful to my lower back (even though the chair itself was expensive, sturdy and comfortable).

My chair rolls fine on it.
