Buying the genuine article is the best value in the long run, because a cheaper 3rd party controller may last you a few months, but the official contollers will last you for years and years.

This controller is absolutely the same sturdy, responsive, ergonomic first party controller that you got with your Gamecube, with the single exception being a longer cord, (which is definitely a useful improvement)

(That's the price for official controllers, I don't mess with crummy third-party controllers)

The controller is extremely solid, works as it should, and has a great length of wire.

Longer wire than earlier GC controllers, they play great (I use them for Melee as well as for casual games), and they last a long time.

It works exactly as it's supposed to, so I'm pleased with it.
