• Reviews around warranty (2.97 of 5)

(Old Model) Seagate 1TB Desktop HDD SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive (ST1000DM003)

    • Look at all the other reviews - all the same problem with the same bogus "2 year warranty".
    • In addition, replacement drive was said to be a refurbished/repaired drive that would have a limited warranty (90 days or remainder of previous warranty on drive, whichever is greater).
    • I have owned 5 of these drives over the years and every single one of them has failed just as the warranty was expiring
    • The warranty is good for only 30 days after purchase
    • Seagate replaced the drive under warranty in each event but you can count on the drive failing near the end of the warranty period like clockwork
    • I can't be without a 4TB for a month and I will need to buy another in the interim so that warranty is useless
    • I will never buy a seagate hard drive again, the bad warranty and very poor product really turned me down from this company
    • This time, the warranty replacement drive went into the NAS, and I was forced to purchase a new cold-swap backup, since the failed drive was now outside the pitiful 2 year warranty
    • The first 3 died were just shy of 4 years old, the last one is barely 3 years old -- still outside of their terrible 2 year warranty.
    • It died (actually locks up the computer when plugged in via USB or directly via SATA) about a month after the warranty expired.
    • However, the warranty on the re certified drive is only like 90 days.
    • Seagate's warranty is good
    • doubtful Seagate will do anything since the warranty is up and working towards contacting the seller now along with data recovery for my backup files off this drive.
    • I want to write about how shady the warranty on seagate drives are
    • The warranty is terrible too
    • so it was out of Seagate's warranty which makes the product description about a 2 year warranty misleading at best, and a blatant lie at worst.
    • But, here we are 2 years and 5 months later (5 months out of it's warranty, of course), and my drive just died
    • Been working as it should for 1 year or so.
    • They work as they should.
    • Works as it should right out of the box.
    • Do yourself a BIG favor, and get a Western Digital or HGST drive as they will honor from DATE OF PURCHASE.This is the last Seagate drive i will ever purchase again.
    • This hard drive is not worth the money as it dies in less than a year
    • Works as it should, but it's pretty noisy.
    • Worked as it should.
    • Would highly recommend a backup drive to this one as in a mirrored RAID configuration.
    • It works as it is supposed to but if you get the 2TB, you're only actually getting 1.8TB

    • 2T is a lot of data and works well for me
