I use this portable speaker to listen to podcasts and music as I cook or drive, where there is significant background noise

It eventually started having the static like background noise when no music was playing

I guess it's acceptable if you just want background noise and don't really care about the quality of the music, like if you're at the pool or something

The unit with static background noise was promptly replaced by the manufacturer

Sound isn't amplified as loud as one would expect, any background noise overcomes the speaker to the point where you can barely hear it
