• Reviews around cable (2.61 of 5)

    OPPO BDP-103 Universal Disc Player (SACD / DVD-Audio / 3D Blu-ray)

    • Wow what a great cable and a marked improvement over a forest green cable.
    • I disabled it by using inferior cabling; Oppo gives control in the setup menu
    • The cables and extras were unbelievable as well!
    • Comes covered in a OPPO tote bag, NICE HDMI cable, and thick foam packing.
    • The connection to my network was so easily through the RJ-45 cable, very stable and very fast
    • I was also pleased to see that a hefty HDMI cable was included, something pretty much unheard of nowadays
    • (not at all common nowadays to get so many good reviews), i decided to go for it...from packaging to performance, detailed manual, great remote and on screen menu paired up with those accessories that everybody seems to "forget" nowadays (hate to buy products worth lots of money and then have to run out to the store to buy a "stupid" cable since the manufacturer thought it was "too much to include it in the box
    • (I have the Apple TV plugged in there, but having to have the cable around the front is a drag).
    • Plus RS-232 is even the wrong serial interface as it is very noisy without twisted pair cables and differential line drivers
    • Originally, when I recently received the BDP-103 which I had ordered from Amazon, I decided to just plug it in to the same old cheap HDMI cable which had been connected to my previous bluray player
    • The cables and extras were unbelievable as well!
    • Tried everything - different cables, TVs and calling to the customer service, still dead
    • Called tech support, they kept saying, "I probably had a bad/faulty cable" (which actually came with the unit)
    • You get the player, a wireless adapter, and a decent HDMI cable that does a dance around the usual OEM garbage
    • It's a smart device with both wired and wireless networking, with the ability to connect to a lengthy list of online services as well as to any local DLNA-compliant media library, and it even has a smartphone app available to let you use your smartphone as a remote for it
    • I wish it had 2k/4k support on the HDMI ports as well as having some more audio processing effects for only 2channel sources.
    • I smiled as it reminded me of the early 80's when my mother and I bought my father his first "audiophile" setup from Pacific Audio in Marin.
    • so I knew the sound would improve as it had neither of the lossless codecs.)
    • I had never tried it on my other blu-ray players, so there wasn't even a hi-def conversion point of reference--it looked just a crappy as it did on DVD players with SD TVs.
    • It really blew me away as to quality and performance
    • but if i was pressed to chose i would go with the 103 as far as 3d goes it also has two hdmi inputs picture quality there both as good as it gets the sound on cds the 103 and the 93 are hard to tell apart but my brother and i felt the 103 had a hair more detail over the93 in the deep
    • And the SACD portion works well too, for those of you who enjoy them as we do
    • a/v receiver using the second OPPO hdmi port- as they recommended.
    • and I have split A/
    • I contacted support and got a polite but short e-mail back instructing me to update to the latest firmware and wait for the next one
