OPPO BDP-93 Universal Network 3D Blu-ray Disc Player

    • just was well as the Oppo
    • I'd say the Oppo is so good, it's a no-brainer - just go out and buy one, and put the thought, energy and money you save into other parts of your system
    • The Oppo didn't like it when I used Handbrake to down-mix to stereo
    • The Oppo might be a bit slow to power up but it is extremely silent versus the very noisy PS3
    • It is solidly built also I am very happy with this purchase, you can't go wrong with this one I highly recommend the Oppo
    • On some systems the OPPO really shines
    • I recommend the Oppo to anyone looking for a media player that can play any format andwants the best possible picture & sound while doing so.
    • Incidentally, I would recommend Bill McClain's unofficial Oppo
    • I must commend Oppo on their packing
    • And this Oppo is worth every single dime you pay for it
    • I still use the OPPO for Netflix frequently however for convenience, and it hangs up on every fourth film and requires a power cycle to regain control.
    • thanks Oppo for finishing off where the Denon 2500, sony 1000es,Pioneer Elite 23 and 51 FD left off
    • The Sony Bluray going direct to TV was also more vibrant and clear (same as Oppo) but I cannot run the player this way with only 1 HDMI out
    • I also want to commend OPPO on their tech-savvy customer service reps (especially a young man named JAMES).
    • The device features a host of different connection options: 2 HDMI 1.4a outputs so you can split output between your TV and your receiver if you prefer (OPPO says this is the optimal configuration), component video, composite video, SPDIF coaxial/optical, and 8 discrete analog outputs
    • Setting up the Blockbuster streaming link is a little trickier, but I believe that may be due to Blockbuster no OPPO
    • Well the oppo came in & I hooked it up via the analog outs to analog ins on the reciever
    • All and all though, the Oppo was more realistic and seemed less enhanced than the LG.
    • Thus the Samsung is worthless, and this OPPO is invaluable
    • I just don't think the Oppo is worth it.
    • Oppo may not like this to much, but to be fair, if you do not have the level of video and audio equipment capable of producing what the BDP-93 can produce in the way of audio and video qualaty (except for its reliability and there great service) you will not be getting all that you can get out of this unit
    • I bought this oppo to replace a aging denon blu ray player and have been totally satisfied with it.
    • The Oppo is better.
    • I re-hooked it up to the TV and sound system and explained to the kids that they are to use the Sony and not touch the Oppo player, and they are very un-happy about this because the Oppo is much better
    • The same was true for the Oppo's sound quality as well
    • Unlike a lot of other manufacturers, who'll sell it separately for 40 bucks, Oppo isn't a dick
    • I also looked at some Pioneer Elite Bluray players and they were not near as good as the OPPO or Denon.
    • Believe it or not there is a pretty big difference in image quality... not to say the Denon was bad but instead to state that the OPPO was just that much better than the already very good Denon.
    • Anyhow, I learned that OPPO had elegantly taken troglodytes like me into consideration and within a half hour I was listening to Blu-Rays and DVDs in "down-mixed" stereo, but through the analog RCA jacks
    • The Oppo might be a little expensive to some, but for the money you get a universal player that plays CDs, HDCDs, SACDs, DVD-Audio/Video discs, Blu Rays and is a competent media player/streamer too.
    • We were listening to Love Roller Coaster of all things, and the Oppo made the disc dynamic and interesting as it revealed the complicated and processed recording
    • The Oppo also plays a bunch of other stuff, like HDCD and DVD-Audio
    • Still loving my Oppo.
    • I never thought of the Pioneer as a slouch with CD's, but the Oppo was much better
    • While I deeply respect OPPO for trying to fix the Netflix streaming problems, and I blame Netflix for some of the problems, the Roku never feezes.
    • For example, the Oppo doesn't have a screen saver for Pandora.
    • Both the Oppo and LG have slow speed and zoom features that work well, especially if you hate the black bars on movies as I do.
    • The Oppo had froze and I had to hold the power button for 10 seconds to completely power down the player
    • The real reason I am writing is to compliment OPPO on their excellent customer service
    • My recommendation, if you don't use the unit everyday, the Oppo might be more unit than you need.
    • Keep up the great work Oppo!
    • (While the Hugo disc set includes a 3D Blu-ray disc and the Oppo is, of course, 3D capable, I do not, as yet, have a 3D video projector
    • This does not mean that you have to spend your 401k on equipment in order to enjoy the Oppo
    • While I was not anxious to spend another $500, at least the price was reasonable (OPPO could have really taken advantage here) and I really wanted to have 3D
    • The Oppo out shined the LG on the up convert, but not buy much
    • Of course, the OPPO is incredible with Blu-Rays, and 3D, and the Menus are amazingly versatile and easy to use.
    • I can't blame Oppo for that.
    • So as to blu-ray, both units are actually equal, but I now prefer the Oppo because it seems more natural.
    • So I chose a movie from my cue and let the Oppo do its magic on it
