The main unit is easy to use and remote has a backlit buttons

The unit itself is gorgeous and will complement any set up

So you're telling me OPPO designed this great unit with all of this amazing functionality, and then decided to skimp on the display

There are some problems, however, fist off, the remote has a very weak signal and is hard to manipulate the unit, unless it is pointed directly at the player

Unboxing the Oppo was fun, because I immediately knew that this was one well built unit and very heavy duty.

I just really, really hope the new unit is as good as all the other reviews say.

Oppo is a great company and this is a great sounding unit - being WiFi capable is a big plus

The only reason I could recomend this unit is if you MUST have the dual HDMI outputs or the discrete sound outputs

so I knew I was in for something special when I unpacked this mid-level piece of gear (although, amazingly enough this player can compete with much more expensive units as I will get to shortly).Audio

I have only had the unit for a day and am completely impressed by the ease of setup and quality of the player

On DVDs the upsampling is stunning and makes those discs look much better than a straight ahead dvd player or the PS3.So far the unit makes me happy with how it looks and functions

So as to blu-ray, both units are actually equal, but I now prefer the Oppo because it seems more natural.

Awesome unit, everything I hoped for

For BD sound quality, I found this unit to be superior to the PS3, with improved smoothness of sound and more well-defined surround staging

I found this unit to be comparable in sound quality to my DVD-S1800, but then that is a very nice unit that when new to market was offered at the same price point as this device

You will have moisture residue, which could totally mess the unit up.

This device also lets me play a host of different media, like SACD, DVD-A and the like using just one unit, which saves me space in terms of components

Without going into a dissertation about how fantastic this unit is, about how you've never seen a blu ray or dvd or anything else in the myriad of formats you can throw at the Oppo, I'll just say that you shouldn't think for two seconds about this purchase before you add it to your cart and make it come to your house

Build quality is excellent, it feels like a very solid unit

The unit itself looks pretty sleek, with a brushed black aluminum exterior, membrane-style on-deck buttons and a low profile

I would HIGHLY recommend this unit to anyone looking for audiophile sound.

This unit that I purchased from Amazon.com is the best I have used.

When I tested the audio on my main system I used HDMI, but I'm tempted to try out the discrete mutlichannel analog connections to see how good this unit's internal DACs sound, as they are highly rated

The Oppo's interface for playing back audio/video files through an external hard drive or USB stick is slow and buggy, and would occasionally freeze up the unit when navigating to a folder with files inside

This unit is expensive, $500, but you just have to watch and listen.

All in all this is a great unit, in the setup in the den the picture looks great, and I'm glad to have BD playback capability in a second room

My recommendation, if you don't use the unit everyday, the Oppo might be more unit than you need.

As other reviewers have mentioned repeatedly, this is a solid, well-built unit - even the remote has a nice solid feel.

I bought this unit because my old LG BD-570 unit's motor failed after a year an 1/2 of heavy use.

They Fed-Exed a replacement unit free of charge that I received the next day (today, a Saturday even)
