The old way works a lot better (my son's phone has the old design and it works so much better).

I do wish there were more color choices and designs available in the defender series though.

The flap over the earphone jack was either malformed or oddly designed, such that it half-covered the jack, so no good for protection nor for easy access

OtteBox is known for its protective sturdy design and I tend to drop my phone now and then

Problem with that is that iPhones aren't designed for an avian deathgrip, so your fingers are right on top of the volume buttons

There is absolutely no doubt that damage has been thwarted due to the outstanding design and construction of the OtterBox
