It has a firm rubber case with a hard plastic shell.

A little stiff to put on now that Otterbox does not separate the hard and soft shells, and the buttons will need to wear in a bit, but it fit on the first try, all buttons work, and most importantly it doesn't cover my camera flash or aux port like my old case did

It is just a junky thin plastic shell, with no separate rubber piece to insert over your phone first
