OXO Adjustable Temperature Kettle, 2.3, Silver

    • so I get hot water on my counter, or my feet
    • It beeps when the water is hot, and when it turns itself off
    • On the OXO kettle, you set the temperature, it beeps to alert you when the water is heated (appreciated), and then it will keep the water at the set temperature, provided you return it to the base within 60 seconds of removing it.
    • Makes hot water, easy to use interface
    • Only drawback I'm aware of is, if you want already heated water to cool to a lower temp, there's no setting for that
    • This kettle is scary fast, it's honestly a bit insane how fast it can boil water
    • While there’s a very handy timer for brewing coffee or tea, there’s not timer to set for hot water to be ready when I wake up, nor is there a clock
    • and I hoped it would last for a decade or more, like our previous but not-so-beloved plastic hot water pot
    • I have read about people who say that a product they purchased never worked but it has never happened to me until I received this electric kettle yesterday and excitedly opened the box and took it out plugged in this electric kettle and turned it on and followed the instructions and when the water did not get hot I tried it again and tried it again and then the GFI circuit fired and every time I pushed the red button to turn power back onto the electric outlet after 2 seconds it would pop out again and this only stopped when I unplugged the electric
    • I wanted our tea to be ready at the same time, but with a Keurig that's just not possible as it just makes one cup of hot water at a time
    • At 1500 watts, I put on the kettle, grind the coffee, get out the cone and the filter, and the water is ready to go
    • It is a very well thought out and nicely machined product: you can pour almost all the water out of the spout, except a few drops -- there's no place that the water gets trapped, unlike some other pots I've used; the lid doesn't fall off as the pot tilts, the heat control has a solid feel.
    • The gooseneck is tuned so you don't get water pouring too fast like most other units
    • If I put in about 10oz of filtered cold water from the fridge, it gets heated to 175 degrees F in less than 2 minutes
    • Since I use cold water, it takes a fair number of turns of the dial to get the temp selection up to the 175 - 200 degree range
    • It seems to boil water faster than my old one
    • I would do this by shaking the water out right after using it and then rest of the hot water should evaporate quickly with he lid off
    • So I tested the Oxo by pouring cold water slowly into it
    • It was a little difficult to adjust the temperature at first, but the unit works very well and heats water faster than anything else in my kitchen.
    • I’m actually amazed at how quickly it heats the cold filtered water from my refrigerator.
    • the next day it broke off while pouring hot water
    • I am not super crazy about coffee making, but admittedly a little bit crazy about coffee making, and this kettle lying to me about how hot the water is is super annoying
    • If you ran out of water somewhere in that time frame and refilled the kettle with cold water, it would sense that and immediately start to bring the water back to 200
    • Originally I thought this was the best water heater, bit I can't say that anymore
    • Great electric water kettle which can be heated to your desired level
    • I use filtered water from my fridge and it is cold water
    • I've even added cold water into the unit while it is
    • I also use filtered water since water in my area is hard.
    • I have been using cold filtered water out of the refrigerator and it can reach 200F in about 2-3 minutes, so by the time I grind my coffee and everything, the water is ready
    • I can control how hot the water gets to make a perfect meal.
    • I also had a weird experience the first time I used this thing, but I think it was because I filled the kettle with hot tap water from my sink and then tried to heat it.
    • Oh, and we are pleased that it can keep water warm for additional cups of coffee or tea.
    • This will heat up 500ml of cold water to 201*F in under 75 seconds.
    • You can choose to keep the water warm, or just turn it off
    • If you use distilled water or very well purified water you will never have any deposit or rust issues ever
    • So if you "overpour" (i.e. not slow pouring, but just pouring the water out regularly as you would from a normal kettle) then boiling water with leak from the cap
    • I've owned hot water dispensers too
    • Time to boil water to max line is around 4 minutes, very quick
    • I would do this by shaking the water out right after using it and then rest of the hot water should evaporate quickly with he lid off
    • and it it is very good for that since it keeps the water warm and you can specify the exact temperature
    • Due to the design you can get the right amount water every time
    • At work, I used the coffee maker's hot water spout (tap water)
    • The lid also has heat protection so your hand won't get burned when there is hot water inside
    • It replaced a top stove kettle I had that took forever for the water to get ready
    • and I hoped it would last for a decade or more, like our previous but not-so-beloved plastic hot water pot
    • If I had it since the beginning when my baby was a newborn, it would have saved so much hassle and trouble every time I had to boil water and do the guess work of making it just the right temperature
    • I love that I can set the exact temperature, the kettle keeps the water at that temperature for a period of time, and it beeps when it's done
    • If you want a more accurate pour, but don't want to wait around for your stove top to heat up water, this kettle is for you
    • While The kettle and stand are thoughtfully designed and it warms water quickly, I began to have problems with the heating mechanism shortly after I purchased the kettle, and now after only 6 months, it is no longer heating at all
    • I unplugged it, waited a bit, and used cool water instead.
    • Use it for pour-over coffee as well as hot water for tea.
    • I know, I know-- it's just a hot water kettle
    • I like how effortless pouring the hot water really is
    • So for $100 and under I think it'll last as long as it's cleaned regularly and water is not left in it for prolonged periods
    • Wow, this heats up water super fast
    • I was looking to upgrade my cheap electric hot water kettle
    • I simply run hot soapy water inside and flip it upside down to dry out.
    • There is some discoloration at the bottom even though I don't have hard water, so it's definitely not the highest quality stainless steel, but no rust thus far, so ok for me
    • We were using hot water from the stove (way to slow and unreliable temp or kuerig way to low temp and plastic tasting)
    • I researched the perfect “temperature controlled” water kettle for weeks
    • Keeps water hot, great for making coffee and leaving a full pot of hot water for my roommates getting up behind me!
    • The temp stayed showing 200 until after enough cold water had been poured in that the gauge finally changed all the way down to 176
    • Not sure how it would fare in a city with harder/mineral-rich water.
    • I am not super crazy about coffee making, but admittedly a little bit crazy about coffee making, and this kettle lying to me about how hot the water is is super annoying
    • The base swivels for ease of grabbing the pot to take it off and pour your hot water
    • It boils water in half the time and the heating element on the bottom of the kettle is so substantial that it retains its exact temperature much longer than our last kettle
    • When you pour water out, just make sure you don't tilt the kettle too much or else water will come out the top
    • You will have to place the kettle on the base over and over for it to turn on, and then once it starts boiling your water you will have to remove and replace the kettle over and over in order to finalize the boil
    • I was boiling the water to a too high temperature and who would know?
    • It boils the water to a very precise point, and it's SO FAST
    • This kettle is much more powerful than my old one, but literally boils water in ~<60% of the time
    • I liked the temp controls and had the thing been easier to use I would have appreciated being able to customize my tea types to the correct water temp
    • As a hot water kettle, I have to say, the gooseneck is an advantage, the base is well designed and though pricier than other pour-over kettles, its design is excellent
    • I heat the water to 205° for use in a French Press and the water is ready, going from approximately 65° to the 205° in about 2 minutes.
    • Not sure how it would fare in a city with harder/mineral-rich water.
    • The temp stayed showing 200 until after enough cold water had been poured in that the gauge finally changed all the way down to 176
    • After 3 weeks of use, it has begun leaking hot water from the spout when I pour
    • Great KettleWe got a free Keurig when we bought new appliances and we have been using it only for hot water
    • If your like me and leave some water in to dump it later, its a minor annoyance to see it pop on when your not actually using it
    • I was looking to upgrade my cheap electric hot water kettle
    • This must be done with any teapot for your own health as well as to keep the pot clean
    • Our old goose neck electric kettle died, so we got this as a
    • For some reason, the handle does not look as prominent as in the photo, which is good because it's the one
    • Descaled and cleaned as per the recommendations
    • and I have not managed to master this as of yet.
