Pentel Arts Pocket Brush Pen, Includes 2 Black Ink Refills (GFKP3BPA)

    • It's a nice true black, and I can get very small lines, as well as dark thick lines
    • But making really thin lines is very hard, and the tip that bends really quickly, with almost no pressure, does not help much
    • Lays a good line as long as you don't work to quickly, but easily adjusted for.
    • Makes very fine lines which size easily varies with soft pressure as you move
    • Though the line work it accomplishes is great, there are times (when I draw a little too fast with it I suppose) that the line becomes sparse
    • but I have trouble with making fine lines as the fibers are very soft.
    • As for quality, it does make for some nice dark lines of varying thickness according to pressure you apply
    • I purchased this brush pen with the intent of using it in a figure drawing class, and the ability to produce both consistent lines and expressive shading lends itself superbly to that role
    • messy)- brush retains shape well overall and provides a good smooth line with a lot of weight variation (with exception of occasional stray fibers that can be easily trimmed)Cons:- ink fades slightly after drying (doesn't dry to a true deep black like India ink),- fibers in brush tip might become stray and change shape of line (Easy fix
    • My issue is that upon opening, the pen had a number of loose and bent bristles that prevented any type of fine lines
    • The synthetic bush fibers are fantastic and actually give you a lot more control of line weight and stability than a standard sable does (not to mention the perfect continuous flow)
    • Nice lines from fine to bold.
    • From thick to thin this brush pen gives you versatility form brush strokes to fine line detail, I've been using for it a week now and another user said his had lasted him almost four with one cartridge
    • Also, I'm not sure how intentional this was, but there's like... a single bristle that just barely pokes out further than the other ones, which is awesome for drawing super thin lines, but it doesn't poke out enough to make any difference when going thicker
    • Lays down a very nice line and can easily go from fine to thick line easily
    • Took a few minutes to get the feel for the brush tip, but it creates a beautiful line.
    • Either soft or firm is much firmer than the brush on the Pentel, but after practicing smooth lines with the Tombow pens, I showed a much improved level of control with the Pentel
    • I'd recommend a slick cold press sheet if you want slick sharp-edged lines.
    • Pros, You can get pretty good line variation and it feels nice to use
    • I have found that in order to keep my lines solid and avoid the dry brush effect, I can't move too quickly
    • The bristles are just flexible enough to do small lines but tough enough to lay down bold lines and it is seriously awesome
    • It's consistent in inking with a smooth black line with crisp detail
    • My only issue is a stray bristol at the tip that wasn’t there before and yiu can’t grt fine lines quite well with
    • Nice dark lines
    • It has a beautiful distinctive line, too - I can always spot when another artist is using this brush
    • Deep, black versatile lines can be easily drawn
    • Unbelievable line control
    • The lines are dark and even
    • this thing can get a /very/ fine line if you're careful
    • Forget making really precise thin lines on some paper, you will get ugly bloated irregular thicker lines instead
    • When I draw fast with this pen it leaves a lot of "flying white" which is a calligraphy characteristic but doesn't work well for solid line drawings
    • It has great ink flow, though you have to draw a little slow to get a crisp, thick line
    • This brush pen does not work with my sketching style since I'm used to fast lines
    • but it's not giving me any sort of solid line on the page
    • I can create delicate thin lines to bold thick lines all with one item. and best of all, you can even refill the cartridges yourself or purchase the relatively inexpensive refills
    • It does make the pen virtually worthless, since now when I use it, I often get double lines, then having to go back and thicken the line to correct it to the point that it ruins the project
    • Forget making really precise thin lines on some paper, you will get ugly bloated irregular thicker lines instead
    • I wouldn't use this to ink pages- especially if you plan to erase line from under it
    • no smears, strokes true bold black lines
    • Wide range of line densities available with a steady and practiced hand
    • The trace depends on the pressure you put and delivers beautiful lines.
    • The ink comes out soothe and making the lines with it is nice.
    • It gives a smooth line thick or thin making illustrating fun.
    • If you're planning to erase over your work to remove pencil lines, give your newest lines or areas at least 15 minutes to set up, or they will smudge.
    • Nice dark lines
    • It makes smooth cut lines, but if you yous it to much the ink tends to run out of ink, so you need to change it if you yous it a lot
    • I love how you can get such a dynamic line with this
    • It makes a very beautiful, active line
    • 1 copy of this brush pen I bought had a not-quite-perfect tip, which made doing controlled thin lines hard-to-impossible
    • This pen is really nice but the ink is too hard to control for fine and steady line work for me personally.
    • First off, I enjoyed this brush pen much more than my last one (Bimoji brand) because I can make finer lines with it, and I found it to have a nicer, more consistent ink flow
    • It's wonderful for on the spot sketching and for inking final pieces of art (though it requires a very controlled hand to keep a consistent thin line).
    • I can get good line variation and it adds a nice quality to the art I produce...
    • Very black ink, able to do fine tip strokes/lines and also thick lines
    • nice bold lines
    • A high quality watercolor sheet will work you pretty hard if you like a solid line
    • It is extremely soft, which means bold dark lines and lovely thin ones!I am not a fan of harder brushes, so I'd even choose this over other popular brush pens
    • Very good pen if you like thicker lines, not that easy to get small ones unless you go slow
    • This pen comes with two ink cartridges in the package, is lightweight, simple to use and refill, and the lines it produces on paper are great
    • A sleek products, streamlined and fun to use.perform much better than alternatives.very versatile use of inking - easily swithc from thin to thick and very fine lines.
    • This brush is convenient to throw in my art-on-the-go bag and gives me a great line!
    • You get great line strokes that variate in size.
    • As for quality, it does make for some nice dark lines of varying thickness according to pressure you apply
    • You need some control to do line thickness, and it does not do super fine lines well, but it is awesome for everything else
    • Doing this makes the line sort of go from a solid black line to a rough texture
    • For those who like to sketch and then ink drawings, you probably know how frustrating it can be to make seamless and smooth ink lines
    • It retains it's shape extremely well, the ink flows perfectly through the synthetic brush fibers, and it can go from super-fine to rich thick lines wit just the right amount of pressure
    • The color is bold, you can really get creative with the scripts, and lines that you want to create.
    • Fantastic expressive lines.
    • It's a nice true black, and I can get very small lines, as well as dark thick lines
    • That means great line variation for not much pressure, it holds a lot of deep black ink in it's belly, and you can get a great ragged edge if you want
    • Works well for small, fine work and larger thicker lines
    • Lays nice varied lines with very dark black ink.
    • Very smooth lines
    • I like the pen, even though the tip makes it hard to draw consistent lines.
    • My favorite brush pen, consistently makes bold, beautiful lines
    • I really admired the varied strokes, line quality, and the confidence behind them.
    • This can be good for filling in large areas, or doing work where you need to vary the size from a medium line to a very broad line (And even then, it's rather hard to control consistently)- but forget any fine lines or detail
    • I really like this pen for doodling with, but the brush is kinda flimsy with weird stray hairs that don't stay put and leaves a streaky line.
    • Nice pen with good line work, maybe not best for high quality work.
    • I can make fine and broad lines with this which I love
    • Still learning but with time it makes great lines!
    • Dark black ink, very smooth lines, and easy to control
    • To pull a solid black line, you have to go a little more slowly but
    • She said that is makes awesome thick and smooth lines she uses it to outline her drawings and color in black areas
    • because I could not get a solid line out of it, the tip would start to go dry mid-stroke
    • Very good quality amazing lines
    • Top of the line great quality, quick inking for art work, comics just a all around good product.
    • Getting ideal line quality means feeling the pace of the ink flow
    • I love that it goes from a fat line down to the width of a single hair.
    • this is perfect for making smooth seamless lines
    • The only issue is you just can't get a fine enough line with it
    • Trouble is, as soon as you start using it, the brush gets too soft from being wet with the ink, and it is impossible to get a fine line
    • It takes a VERY light touch for the fine lines though.
    • This pen is great - very smooth lines and nice dark ink
    • The lines are so fine and
    • Great lines, solid black ink
    • Dark black ink, very smooth lines, and easy to control
    • You can also get beautiful thin lines
    • Leaves a whole deep black perfect line always!
    • One of my favorite lining pens
    • It requires a very smooth hand to get a smooth line out of it
    • On really thick lines you also see a some evidence of the different bristles, if you're looking for that sort of thing, as opposed to the completely solid line you'd get from a two ended Tombow or a Pigma Micron brush pen.
    • This pen is amazing... dries quickly, makes deep dark lines, and is smear proof and waterproof when dry.
    • A pen that would retain it's ability to create very fine lines, even after a few months
    • with practice and some control this thing puts down a great variety of beautiful lines
    • Also, because the tip is actual bristles, like a traditional brush, it gives a much nicer line than a felt-tipped brushpen, keeps a nice sharp point, and over time the ink refills are cheaper than buying new felt-tipped pens which tend to dry out
    • I really think this pen was a great ut i and I will buy again.
