Other pencils that have a moving tip have much more tip movement then the graphgear 1000, and they tend to jam frequently, be difficult to fix, be more expensive, have incorrect balance or weight, etc

The weight of this pencil is excellent; nice heft and balance

I would recommend this for a carry around pencil since it has a retractable tip but the pentel graph gear 500 is better for at home use as it has a much better balance.

I like the balance of the Rotring more, it is less top heavy than the Graph Gear 1000, and the lead that was included seems to be softer and maybe higher quality

Similar mechanical pencil manufactures like rotrig, have this feature only available on their more expensive mechanical pencils.-The pencil is solid and doesn't feel like it will fall apart.-Weight on the pencil is great, very balanced

This is the best line of mechanical pencils I've tried, the weight is well balanced, never had a problem with the pencil causing too much tensionon the lead, and the tip of the pencil being retractible is a great feature, it improves greatly the lifespan of the pencil

I am pretty light on my stuff and don't consider myself an abuser so this was pretty disappointing and frustrating as it did not even last a full year.

Works perfect as if it was the original cap, better yet, they're basically free

The pencil lasts a very long time I bought mine last year July around this time and it still works just as good as when I first got it

A wonderfully well-made mechanical pencil -- as good as the ones I purchased during engineering school in the 1980's!!Smooth operations, good feeding of the lead, and the pointy tip retracts into the barrel, so no more holes in my pockets!I love it - ordered two more for use at home and at work.

The pencil disappoints as it failed too early for the price charged.

I would just say not to press too hard on the lead because it will break as it is very thin lead
