The connection with the bridge is very finicky.

Be sure to check the wall socket first to see if the connection is loose if you are experiencing a similar issue.

It turns out that the cause of the problem was due to a bad outlet connection; the extension cable my lamp was plugged into was loose in the wall socket!

You must have an open port on your router since there is no wifi connection option available.
