As a test, I slowly lowered my phone onto the pad, and when it was still elevated about 1/4" ABOVE the pad, it started charging

It warms the phone, as all Qi chargers do, but not too much

I definitely recommend the Pictek Qi Wireless Docking Station to those with the appropriate phones

With that said, my phone is no warmer in the morning than if I had left it plugged into it's OEM wall charger
