The fine point refills don't seem to have this problem, nor do the bold cartridges that come in a pen, just the Bold Refills.

Unfortunately, I can't get Ultra Fine Point pens,

My only wish is the tip came in other sizes besides a fine point

These are great refills, but kind of expensive, you can buy the ultra fine point Pens at a price of 4 for 6.15 on Amazon.
