• Reviews around software (4.77 of 5)

    PlayStation Eye

    • until today the only thing I've used was the eyecreate, the free software you can download from PS store
    • The software itself is easy, but does have a small learning curve due to the fact that it does not come with much in the way of detailed instructions.
    • If you are expecting fancy editing software, you'll be dissapointed here, but that isn't the point.
    • As I write this review the PS Eye is currently on Amazon for $35.32 but it normally retails for around $39.99, the PS Eye is pretty good value, like the title of my review says it does what it does pretty well, there is *FREE PS Eye software available for download from the PSN Store (when PSN is working again of course) & this too is a pretty good little software program, numerous effects like Sepia tints etc are available to add to your pictures & video

    • In fact, you can't download anything at all from the PlayStation Store."OR Sony could simply supply the free software (which can only be used with the PLAYSTATION®Eye) on a DVD disc that is packaged with the PLAYSTATION®Eye
    • The Eye (with proper software) allows the following on a PS3:- made and edit videos- chat/video chat- interpret/recognize patterns (Eye of Judgement)- interpret and recognize gestures or body movements- capture 'real world' objects and then insert them into your own gameIf you are buying this for video conferencing or video chats, please check other reviews because I haven't tried it for anything 'serious' yet.
    • The games available are not really good and there is not much you can do using the free software Sony offers from PSN...
    • The software works well but looks like it's from the 80s
    • There's free software you can download from the PSN also.
    • Cheap but works for chatting on ps3 and with right software also on pc.
    • The image is very clear and the software that you can install for free via the Playstation Network is really good for editing your pictures or videos
    • But I think this still have a lot of potential to be greater product when more software and games take advantage of this hardware
    • I certainly had no reason to think you couldn't even obtain the free software that came with the PLAYSTATION®Eye (or download titles from the PlayStation Store) without
    • software."All Sony had to do was say:"The free software needed to use the PLAYSTATION®Eye for anything at all, as well as some of the software titles designed for it like Mesmerize & Tori Emaki, can only be obtained if the PLAYSTATION®3 itself is connected to the internet using a broadband connection
    • The drawback is software
    • I got this PS3 Eye specifically to take it apart and modify it to become an IR only camera to use it with FreeTrack & FaceTrackNoIR (free software that helps you emulate TrackIR).
    • There is also open source software available for capturing frames: [...]
    • But you can video record whats going on in front of the camera when you download the Free EYE CAMERA software in PLAYSTATION STORE .
    • Worked as it should've of.
    • I use this PS3 eye for playing game as well as in laptop for skype video call
    • The camera is a bit grainy though and doesn't look as sharp as i would like, but the mic is uber clear and can be used to play games online (just make sure you wear headphones if not, others will hear an annoying echo due to the mic being a bit too sensitive to sound and picks up the noise from the TV)
    • However, I have used the camera with the Burnout: Paradise game demo as well as for recording video Christmas cards for my family members that live in other states
    • Works as it should.
    • it works as it should and there's only tiny scuffs on the corners of the microphone,
    • They don't cost much and the online conferencing is cool!~e
