Started off working great, however this past week I noticed a silent right speaker

You get lots of distortion with this amp cranked up if you use crappy computer stereo speakers

I have a digital recording system and a pair of nice monitor speakers.

I feed it a 12db boost at 50 Hz from my laptop and it provides enough oomph to get shocked compliments from bass-junky teenager students, even with my relatively wimpy speakers salvaged from a 20-year old component system

Removed the guts of an old tube set 1956 Buick radio and replaced with this and new speakers (although the old speaker sounded decent with this amp, too).

I now mainly use it on a set of nice quality bookshelf speakers, and I freakin' love it

Powers up 4 small 8 0hm speakers really well

Stopped working about a month after purchase, for some time right speaker would not work unless I power cycle it multiple times

This amp makes them sound amazing, but if you have some cheap crappy speakers, then this amp will not do you any good

but it has an annoying speaker protecter and shuts it on and off

With the volume on the amp at about 75%, the speakers are far louder than I would ever have them for any kind of reasonable listening, including an outdoor party.

The quality of the direct pass through feature is actually worse than that of cheap mini speakers, but using the "tune" button and adjusting the treble and bass provides improved sound quality and more than enough volume

You can turn it all the way up without worrying about destroying your speakers and it does manage to this without distorting as much as many other amps will

I browsed through several units on Amazon but was unsure which to purchase to run my Fisher DS-128 because I didn't want to blow the speakers...or the amp.

I am almost sure that complaints about distortion from online users is from them pairing this amp with crappy speakers that can't handle a lot of watts

Like ANY amp, You can't expect it to work as you would expect if the sound source is turned all the way up/down or 1/2 way etc...which I would like to add can be a benefit or hindrance
