Do I miss other wire?

The 12v outlet works well, but hard wiring made it more convenient

Well, if you connect your camera's black and red wires into your parking light cable, then the back camera will only turn on when your are backing up and that is not being recorded

This setup will be temporary as I also have picked up the hard wire kit to tap from the fuse box... when weather permits

Do yourself a favor and hard wire this thing to your fuse box using 'Add a fuse' plugs - be sure to plug it into a circuit that turns off when the ignition turns off.

If your cigarette lighter is hot all the time (even when the vehicle is off) you will need to plug this into a female cigarette lighter plug adapter that is hardwired to an accessory wire - meaning that the wire is only hot or powered when the vehicle is running or the key is

I had mine hard wired

would suggest to perhaps enhance the wires to make it shorter?

The red wire for the rear camera very thin, so you should not use quick connect to your back up light power wire because the wires are not the same size connection will not good

I have a full size pickup with an 8ft bed the included wire is totally adequate, and even if it wasn't THAT WIRE ISNT EVEN THE CORRECT KIND FOR THE CAMERA

After you are good with the location, make sure you have enough backup light wire (Red) to reach your backup vehicle light

I used the cigarette/power adapter that comes with the kit, but am thinking about hard wiring it eventually as my experience with plugins are that they don't last very long

rateing 3 so far because i've only tested it on the regulated power from my computer's USB port and have yet to install it in my truck ... total lack of instructions on how to wire the rear camera (where the heck does the red wire go?????i will gladly update my review once installed and used a bit but for now it a neutral

It would be nice if they gave the option of hard wiring or using the accessory port

The factory supplied incorrect wiring diagrams for a custom install and destroyed (smoked) the first mirror/camera

Their support person (I think Eriksson) was very good and helped me couple of times via E-mail, responsive and helpful
