I had been using a generic S-Video cable that wasn't of high enough quality

Honestly these cords have provided some of the best quality I've seen on a PS2 so far with the exception of component (its just an inch shy of component)

Switching to S-video significantly improved the picture quality.

If your TV has component cable inputs, I would recommend using those as they will provide better quality.

I had a generic s-video cable for my PS2 which was very poor quality, it had lots of artifacts and checkerboard patterns as is typical with poor quality s-video cables
