It even picks up the voice unidirectionally from as far as 6-12" with clear sound and without hum.

One note: if you notice that the sound is not great or the green button on the base is not turning on, change the battery

Keep it at least 5 to 7 ins from the mouth when talking, and you'll get great sound.

Sound is good and is built well, I gave it only three stars because it doesn't use phantom

When it worked the sound was excellent, but it died on me about a month ago, attempted changing the battery, no luck, it won't even power on anymore.
