Loses connection really bad

I popped open this RCA piece of junk, which cost 25 times the price of the rabbit ears to see if there were any loose connections, corrosion or what and all connections and wires were absolutely fine

My thought is that the connection to the antennae was shoddy and resulted in weak reception from the antenna.
