I really enjoyed the single player and the Free Roam online feature is a blast and really extends the replay value by a huge amount.

Rockstar doesn't have anyway for you to get out of the free roam loading screen

When free roaming through the world, the tunes are sparse, melancholy, folky

all i really do is the online Free Roam at this point

Free roam is fun for a while but doing gang hide out after gang hide out over and over it gets tedious and annoying

So detailed and has great free roaming

Im hoping when the Rockstar devs are online with their posse their will be a lot more activity in free roam as everyone wants to kill the Rockstars

Free roam is

Rockstar incorporated the GTA4 free roam but with much more activities to do and sort of set it like an MMORPG hub, you can fight amongst other players for xp, kill civilians and law enforcement, or organize actual mulitplayer games like free-for-all, team deathmatch amongst other gamemodes.

Free Roam works by putting you and your party (up to 16 different players per room) in a version of the world of Red Dead Redemption, where you can go anywhere and do almost anything together (see from the sample activities and mini games above)

One of the best multiplayer experiences you'll ever have in free roam mode

These are some points on which killed the "free roam" experience:There are only 6 or 7 bandit hideouts that take 2-5 minutes each, that can be done with little to no effort with a few friends or even be yourself

Be warned however that the video makes it sound like Free Roam is the next great innovation in multiplayer

A slow story, empty free roam, terrible structuring of quests, easy auto aim, unreliable controls, and just generally boring and repetitive gameplay make this game suprisingly dissapointing

And an infaninte time of free roaming where you can do whatever you want

The first time I tried playing free roam the whole thing was awful, I think it was a server problem though.

a max level character charges up to you with a legendary mount (like an albino buffalo) and blows you away, but free roam provides many extra hours of funAmbience/Environment/Audio: I guess all of this is the same, how the game feels subtracting the gameplay and AI, just the world as it is.

I'll just say a bit about the multiplayer, as I haven't really done the free roam too much

If you want to complete the game though you need to work toward the free roam challenges that involve hunting, gambling, and exploring the areas that are easily overlooked

From what started out looking like the western killer game above all games, I without a doubt pre-ordered this for the free roam alone

The free-roaming combined with boringly long horseback rides does lend some authenticity but the game feels disjointed and just plain boring

There is also a multiplayer aspect to this game called Free Roam (think of a really graded lobby from the GTA4 multiplayer)

Rockstar has proven themselves again at being the best at making free roaming, sandbox games

The graphics are phenomenal, it's an excellent 3rd person shooter game with tons of interactive side games, plus Rock Star as done a good job of keeping the hackers and cheaters out of the on line multiplayer free roam.

Some network problems, especially in Free Roam- Could be a little more difficult

I have only seen a few bugs that aren't too serious, sometimes a character may perform an animation and then the game will spawn the same charcter doing a differnet animation causing a funny ghosting effect (have only seen it once), sometimes characters will appear cross-eyed in cutscenes and sometimes when you call your horse it'll jump off of a cliff - none of which are game-breaking, but if you are picky about those sort of things, there they areMiscellaneous: Other things the game includes (as written in all synopsis' of the game) a social club that links to xbox live to give you news about public events and updates, a bunch of side things to do from hunting, the herb-gathering, to arm wrestling and bounty hunting or escaping US Marshals or kidnapping civilians or getting into drunken brawls or duels, there is much to do in this game, some people clocked 200+ hours in Oblivion and Fallout 3, this game you might easily surpass that, with the multiplayer experience including free-roam and organized traditional games, you will ALWAYS have something to doOverall: If you're a fan of action games or shooters, get this.

You need friends and creativity to really have a good time in free roam.

Only to find out how very limited and boring the world is, there is absolutely nothing to do in free roam

Huge world in free roam is interesting, but can be lonely and boring at times.

Free roam with 16 other people and the ability to create possies and take out gang hideouts is a great idea.

There is no option to filter to a "expert aiming" (no auto aim) free roam mode

Although I'm not a big fan of online multiplayer, there are enough game modes to keep anyone entertained for many hours; the online free roam mode is excellent for just messing about and shooting innocent characters without worrying about the consequences to stats, too

Multi-Player -I really haven't played much except in "Free Roam" where you can hookup with up to eight players total to form a possie and head out for various missions and places scattered throughout

I find myself going to a fast travel and then going to the hideouts cause riding from one place to another is takes forever and nothing to do along the way because they gutted the free roam so much for online play

Maybe it was just a fluke, so i tried to play free roam again and again several times in the next few days and every time i was put on a map with only FOUR other people at most

Free Roam was more glitchy than any other game I've played in recent memory.

As for the multiplayer, I did not play any competitive modes, but I did play Free Roam somewhat extensively and I can say that it is even MORE EMPTY than the single player.

This is not exaggeration right here: The only thing you can do in Free Roam are the 7 Gang Hideouts (which you can do each one in maybe 30 minutes total), go hunting or picking flowers for challenges, or just find people you are playing with and kill them which gets old after 10 minutes

I played the game after Rockstar patched the servers)In their build up till game launch, Rockstar hyped up the "Free Roam" mode as sort of a wild west MMORPG

Whether it's in free roam or death match, causing chaos with up to 16 players online makes it that much more satisfying and allowing for even higher replay value.

However, there's still an unlimited amount of playtime to be had just roaming the west, working toward 100% completion with all the sidequests and challanges, or spending countless hours in free roam, coop, or shootout and CTF type games in multiplayer

I guess I'm just not a fan of the fact that in the Free Roam other players will just randomly shoot me if I'm just on my horse minding my own business or trying to do a gang hideout

There's free-roam, which is exactly what is sounds like: venture around New Austin and Mexico with random dudes pulled in from Xbox Live riding around and putting holes in one another

lastly the spawning in free roam is crazy if you die from some one they spawn u not very far away so the people who killed you can follow you and kill you again corpse camping can be annoyingwell thats the end of my

Furthermore the multiplayer is well below par for any game and it is very difficult to play in any mode aside from free roam.

Red Dead Redemption is certainly playable, and it's great to see a free roaming western; but, there's not nearly enough to do, the story is inane (and frequently disgusting), and it's just not what it should be

This is a Great Game, I bought it about a month ago and both the free roam and single player are great

And let's not forget about the Online Free Roam with other players, which is like a mix between traditional online modes mixed with the freedom found in the single player

I like the free roam to earn money, fame or notoriety

I find myself climbing to a high point and enjoying the view at times, embarrassing as it sounds.
