It is a nice manageable size for her and withstands her use.

Very loud maybe buy a smaller size but very loud can be good

14" turns out to be a good size for an inexpensive bodhrán practice drum (16" would be better)

I got the 12" because I figured the surface area would be a good size for him to hit, but it wouldn't be too big for him to carry (he's 5), and that's working out well.
