The tone is so beautifully clear

It has such a beautiful rich tone and I can even play it as a drum head on a shell

I think the reason there is the handle allows him to hold it easier and you can produce a quieter tone on it.

With a close mic I get a conga like tone and surprisingly deep tones in the center of the head with brighter higher tones on the rim

I bought the 8" and it's very light with a great tone!

Wonderful Drum with great tone.

The tones and overtones are not terrifically low for recording, but the tension across the head seems to be pretty even so the tones are consistent.
